So I was at a mall today in my city and I walked past a store called Aritzia. It's a women's clothing store. Not sure if you guys have them in the US. I assume you probably do but I wouldn't know for sure. Anyway, you know how stores have those display windows? Well, next to the clothing that was in the display window on the mannequins, it said "Stop Blending In" and then there were 2 chameleon sculptures in the window display too(I know Randall isn't a chameleon, but he does have a similar ability). And anyway....it was just the words...."Stop Blending In" that really stuck with me because Randall clearly doesn't like just blending in. He wants to be liked and admired. He doesn't want to just be 'some guy'. And yet it's interesting that his ability is actually all about 'blending in' to his surroundings. Randall doesn't want to feel invisible....and yet that's what his ability is....he doesn't want to be invisible and yet, it's what he does all the time. I remember making a similar post about this before....but I just thought I would mention this display I just saw. I'm not sure if all Aritzia stores would even have that same display window, but it was interesting. I wondered how Randall would feel about himself if he saw that message on a store.

Randall's invisibility must ultimately prove itself to be a life-saving valued commodity by the climax of 'Monsters 3', just like how Dumbo's giant ears reversed HIS fate from that of a humiliated, dejected elephant, to being a world-famous flying elephant that people would pay money to see, as is shown in all of the newspaper articles at the end of the film.
Randall's invisibilty is a major strength, a uniqueness, and Randall must be able to realize that when the time comes.

I would like to see Randall's ability save his life and that of someone else, too, to show that one's abilities and talents can be used for good or bad, and most of all, to show HIM that it's a good thing. In MU, Randall is very much ashamed of his ability at first and sees it as a bad habit that he has difficulty controlling, and worse, something that makes him the butt of jokes and ridicule. By the time we see him in MI, he's learned how to use it effectively as a Scarer, and unfortunately, Waternoose makes use of that same ability of Randall's to put him up to some not-so-good things, but I don't think that Randall has ever considered that ability of his a cause for celebration, a way to actually earn respect and get attention. It has unfortunately become symbolic for how others overlook him and ignore him, as though he really WERE invisible, and he sees this as a liability to be overcome, not as a real asset.

That is why it is important for the human antagonists to be exceedingly arrogant, even flippant towards the monsters' way of life. Using another 'Monk' analogy, from "Mr. Monk and the Astronaut" (Episode 14, Season 4), it's not that hard to imagine Mike and Sulley in Adrian Monk's position when Steve Wagner abruptly snapped his fingers in Monk's face in an attempt to intimdate him. You know?
ADRIAN: "Am I making you nervous?"
STEVE: "Never..... do you know why?" SNAP! "You flinched. You see? You're a flincher... you'll never stop me, because when the chips are down, when it really counts... YOU... are always going to flinch."
What I'm getting at is that before Randall even returns in the story, before we see that his invisibility talent is going to be used to save his own life as well as Mike, Sulley, and the rest of his fellow monsters, it would be extremely effective if we have some kind of scene in which after Sulley is overpowered and usurped by the humans, the humans taunt and jeer about how NOBODY can scare THEM.
Someone needs to say to Sulley "Just TRY and stop us...", and in hindsight, after our first viewing, we'll all be thinking "Yeah, yeah, yeah... just wait, you smart-ass. Just you wait... Randall will get you!". I'd love to see a scene like that.
