Cool. I can't recall when my family first got internet....I think sometime around 1997?
I definitely remember being online in 1998 for sure when I was 14. lol. Man that was so long ago and the internet was so slow back then and you couldn't really do much on it and computers had pretty bad storage space.

Yay!
Weird to think just how much the internet has had an impact on our lives. It's actually crazy. I can't imagine life without it!

Something for those of you who like longer articles or video documentaries. I think it fits this thread very well: www.theverge.com/2013/5/1/4279674/im-still-here-back-online-after-a-year-without-the-internet*Spoiler* This guy spent a year without the internet as a combined work project/ personal journey thing. He thought his internet addiction had been taking the better of him, so he stopped cold turkey and lived offline for a full year. The results? Internet, as it turns out, never was his problem. His personal issues were. While offline, they just started manifesting in different forms. So, the bottom line is the same for the internet as it is for hamburgers, guns, and pretty much anything inanimate - these things don't cause problems; humans do.

I don't have time to read all of that right now but is Hotmail closing down? I still use it as my main e-mail.

The @hotmail.com addresses are and will remain functional, but are now part of Microsoft's new e-mail service, Outlook.com. It's just that Hotmail does no longer exist as a standalone service. The article describes (sometimes sarcastically) the importance and influence Hotmail had when it was launched. I still have a Hotmail address, too!

Yeah I did notice that mine changed to the Outlook thing a few months ago. What bothers me about e-mail though is that once you've had an account for a while, you really do end up getting a lot of spam mail. I need to find out a way to prevent getting so much of it.
