I was just thinking more about this earlier.
I remember a while back on here people were talking about Randall most likely being an INTJ in the Myers-Briggs personality type indicator.
And this was before anything about MU had come out.
I feel like now that we know more about MU.....it's even more obvious that Randall's probably an introvert.
It's not just because he looks like a nerd....Steve Buscemi has confirmed that he's nerdy in MU.
I think nearly all nerds are introverts. I mean, nerds just come across as being an introverted group. I think people who are extroverts are more likely to be the ones having big parties and being really outgoing.
I think the majority of us, if not all of us on this forum are introverts actually. And introverts probably like using the internet more than extroverts do in a lot of cases. I know that personally I find it easier to express myself on here than face to face with people.
One unfortunate thing about being an introvert is that society generally feels like it's made more for extroverts. So a lot of us introverts feel like we have to push/force ourselves to be something we're not just to fit in with the way society is/functions.
My sister is reading a book about this and she was talking to me about it yesterday. She also showed me her Myers-Briggs type indicator test that she did in school and she's an INTJ. That's what a lot of people on here think Randall is too, from what I recall. PBL, aren't you also an INTJ? I think I remember seeing you say that. And interestingly enough, my sister has been a teacher in Japan for 2 years(summer 2010 - summer 2012) and is going to do a PHD program here in the coming fall because she wants to become a professor at a university in the future. So it looks like she's looking to become a teacher for her career, just like you PBL, since you are a teacher too aren't you? So it's interesting that you and my sister are both doing that and are INTJ people.
My sister said that when she was a teen though(she's 25 now), she was an INFP(or maybe it was INTP...I'm not completely sure). So she changed a little over the years when she became an adult.
Personally I tend to get either INFJ on my results or INFP. So my sister and I are in a similar realm of types, but a bit different.

Personally I tend to get either INFJ on my results or INFP. So my sister and I are in a similar realm of types, but a bit different. I actually scored ISTJ on the most recent test I took. I'm not sure if Randall would be an introvert or not, though, since introverts usually are internally motivated, meaning that they generally get a sense of satisfaction for their accomplishments from within, rather than needing outside motivation/praise/acceptance. MOST, if not all, teachers are going to be introverts, simply because in my line of work we simply do not get praise from others except on very rare occasions. We learn quickly to dread the sound of a superior calling your name, since that usually only happens when you've screwed up and done something to make them unhappy. They will be quick to let you know when THAT has happened, but slow to let you know when you've done a good job. You either have to learn to live without any praise or positive reinforcement, or you have to find a new career. Randall is most definitely NOT a person who can function without being praised and without knowing he's accepted. He absolutely NEEDS to see his name up there on top of the Scare Board and hear it called out. This is not an ego thing, since ego is what puts that need under its control. Randall cannot help being this way anymore than I can help being ISTJ. Part of the problem is that in spite of being an extrovert, he's also got an issue with shyness(shyness does not equal introvert here), which means that while he NEEDS contact and praise, he also FEARS it and is uncomfortable in those social situations where he's on unfamiliar turf. Judging from his involvement with the Scream Extractor, he does NOT think things through very well and weigh all the possibilities but just jumps on what seems like a really good idea at the time. I don't think he ever considered that fact that Waternoose might try to screw him over when he agreed to be part of that plot, or thought seriously that he might be caught until the pressure was on later, but as they say, hindsight is 20/20. By the time Randall realized that he might be in trouble, it was too late to go any direction but forward. pitbulllady

I mean, I wanted praise for my Envy costume when I made it. It's hard for me to imagine who wouldn't want praise for making something like that? And I'm definitely an introvert. So I don't really know if wanting praise has much correlation with being introverted or extroverted. I mean I'm not as needing of praise for things as Randall though personally...clearly it's more important to him than pretty much anything else. He reminds me more of my boyfriend in that sense because my boyfriend always wants to be #1 at anything he does really.....where as I'm more of the mindset of "I just don't always want to be LAST." I'm content if I'm #1 once in a while with something, or 2nd or whatever....jut not last all the time. I don't think my b/f has ever taken that personality test though, so I can't say what he is. I'm curious now actually. I should probably see if I can get him to take it. He's certainly more social than me...although I don't know if he's really an extrovert. He comes across as similar to Randall in a number of ways. I still feel like Randall is more likely an introvert than an extrovert. Just hard for me to picture anyone being a nerd and an extrovert at the same time....not saying it can't happen but that doesn't sound like a mix that would happen often. EDIT: Just got my boyfriend to do the test and he ended up with INTJ. He's also a Slytherin in the official Harry Potter sorting test....and they're all about ambition and success. He's always been like that(although is just a lot less insecure than he was back when I first met him). So it's not like people who are ambitious and want praise and to be considered great must be extroverts. And Randall seems the same way. I mean....it's just harder for me to see Randall not being an introvert. We'll never know for sure I don't think....but he just comes across more that way to me. Here's a DIFFERENT take: I disagree with that notion about Randall blindly going into the Scream Extractor project. I have actually come to the conclusion that as Waternoose presented the blueprint of the Scream Extractor to Randall, and he began to explain what it is he wants Randall to do, I think Randall actually saw through Waternoose's plan and confronted him about it. Waternoose attempted to make Randall feel guilty, but Randall refused again, and said that he was going to turn him into the CDA. At that precise moment, I think Waternoose seized Randall by the throat and hissed "Don't you dare cross me.", and threatened that if he didn't obey his instruction to build the extractor, he would kill Mike as well as a childhood friend of his, and if he ratted on Waternoose to anybody, he would kill Randall himself. I think Waternoose told Randall that he refuses to go to jail on anyone's account, even though he had been acting up until then, a surrogate father to Randall.
This means that Randall was actually keeping Mike and himself alive by building the Scream Extractor, and I think when he boxed Mike in the container, it was NOT an accident. He was risking his own life by taking Mike to the Scream Extractor as a substitute for a human child, against Waternoose's orders. When he asked Mike about Boo's whereabouts, it was in the interests of PROTECTING Boo from Waternoose, because he knew that Waternoose would kill her.
I don't care what anyone's reply is... my thoughts on this are solid and they will not change.
