Considering Randall's less...well he's more stalwart here....and with the ROR jacket and with the fraternity, yes this is later on. Climax or not is debatable...
Being more confident and matured shouldn't count as something evil...I guess one who just doesn't like him would see he looks more like he does when he's older, even if it's misinterpreted.

I've been replying to her in the topic.
She thinks that Randall might have done something unpleasant to Mike and Sulley by that point in the movie.
In my opinion it's possible that maybe by that point in the movie either Mike or Sulley had done something unpleasant to Randall...so now he(for good reason) doesn't like them anymore. I mean, it's not a far stretch to think maybe Sulley did something bad to Randall....Sulley clearly comes off as being a bit of a jerk in university from what I've gathered from some of the stuff we have seen already. I'm not basing this off what he looks like even....he clearly said something rather bully-like(I think directed at Mike) in one of the trailers.

Not a far stretch at all. To me, like I did in Mail, I think the end result of all of this is...that the three put things aside (at least, Sullivan and Randall do). I mean they had to work together (yeah their stations are side-by-side) for at least a year...and if Randall held a grudge for that long, it would have caused major problems.
I think what we'll see is manipulation and misunderstanding. Johnny and the ROR may have a big hand in this. I mean Randall and Wazowski break off and Randall seems to lose his "geekiness". Not anybody's fault really...just their characteristics being exploited. Sullivan's aim to be a...free-spirit I guess? Wazowski's obsession to be a scarer. Randall's personality and confidence.
Wazowski, as we know, fails. But his obsession transfers over to jibing Randall in the future. Sullivan cleans up his act for the better, and Randall, as we see, is more confident in himself and is...kinda anti-social.
"I'm going to mop the floor with that know-it-all" if I remember what Pitbulllady said was the line that you might be thinking of.

I just looked at that comment on Pixar Planet....I honestly have no idea what that person's talking about. If there was another scene of Randall out there, you'd think more people would have seen it. They're probably just making an assumption about something we have already seen....and I have no idea why he/she thinks that whatever scene he/she is talking about is at the end of the film. I agree, whoever made that comment was just making an assumption. Isn't that exactly what we've been doing?

Not really, we actually look/discuss/theorize heh heh. We take time to consider and observe the details we are given. Considering this person probably still thinks of Randall as the villain (going gun-ho on things by saying he causes the problem)...kind of a one-sided assumption.

True, but I've had my share of misunderstandings when it comes to text messages. I'm only suggesting that we not be too harsh about the subject.

*blinks* Oh believe me, there have been harsher debates. I simply find the remark amusing rather than frustrating.

*blinks* Oh believe me, there have been harsher debates. I simply find the remark amusing rather than frustrating. Yeah, like a football game being the "climax" of the movie. Now if the main topic of the movie WAS football, and it was a football-centered movie about a struggling underdog team or football player, the climax probably WOULD be a football game! But, from what I gather it's a movie about college life in general, about changes we all go through growing up and finding our way in the world, and it's set in an alternate-universe version of the USA, basically, and football or some team sport usually does figure fairly prominently in college life in the US. I believe that the person who posted that, if I recall correctly, is not in the US but in Asia, so perhaps they don't have that grasp of our college culture. But still, thinking that Randall looks "mean" here is stretching things regardless. I can understand the misinterpretation of a football game, but the facial expression is harder to chalk up to simply not being familiar with a cultural thing. It really is more like that person just can't grasp the concept of Randall being anything BUT evil and mean, ever. pitbulllady

Maybe it was after the football game or something. I may be wrong though. But anyway, I agree that "mean" may have been a bit of a strong word that person used, but he defiantly does look more serious, similar to how he looked in the first movie.

One thing to note is, I think from the view, this is at night...not in the daytime. I would have to compare but...this field looks...different...less "bigger" than the area we see in that football game we see earlier in the trailer. And the Scare Games are between the fraternities and sororities but...does this mean it's a competition between each of MU's fraternities/sororities...or THEIRS...against their rival Fear Tech's fraternities/sororities or whatever...
Seriousness ain't a bad or mean thing. I am...unsure how the Scare Games are...if they're a yearly thing or what. If so...then that means if the three are going the full 4 years (remember, apparently Sullivan and Wazowski NEED to win the scare games to get IN to the scarer program.) So it's unknown exactly how much time has passed...I mean quick change of Randall to a geeky shy guy into somebody more confident and serious HAS to be a gradual process...
