well not really confusing but. apparently the movie is going right up to where the first one started. we are going to see them work their way through the company ranks. first in the mail room then as janitors next as door maintenance guys and then as scarers!
how neat is that! cant wait to see how its shown tbh

Where did you get this information from? I haven't seen anything other than the promise of Mike and Sulley's rivalry and them getting in trouble for their pranks, thus winding up getting kicked out of ROR and having to pledge OK. Rverything else is just speculation on our parts. There is a LOT of discussions and wikis and whatnot going on right now, since the trailer came out, but I have not seen anything from Disney or Pixar.

Wouldn't the movie also have to be REALLY long in order for them to do all of that?

well that's what i was thinking it would have to be majorly long. its pretty credible it was said at first by billy crystal and then backed up by someone at the toy fair. ill put a link for the billy crystal bit but i cant remember the toy fair video i watched it in because there are so many, however the video was a disney employey talking to the toy creator who said something along the lines of this: the toy allows you to move the characters through the ranks of the company as is seen within monsters university he then showed a demonstration with the toy where he says they will work in the mail room as janitors and as door maintenance. im just guessing that the toy thing is credible as it does tie in with what crystal said to an extent. here is the link: www.pixarpost.com/2012/10/billy-crystal-interview-more-hints-for.html

Wow that DOES seem pretty legit....although it sounds like that's the very end of the movie and therefore I don't imagine they'll spend much time on that part. It doesn't sound like that will be a huge aspect of the movie, and most likely a fairly small scene.
Sometimes toys have stuff that was only hinted to/shown very briefly in the movie. Still, probably must be official though.

I see that one of the female monsters apparently has the same name as one of my cousins.

LOL, if this turns out to be true insofar as having Boo show up, perhaps an older version in a flash-back or "post-script" sort of thing, then I'm hiring TheOnePistol to pick lotto numbers for me! Seriously, though, I would love absolutely nothing more than an ending where we not only find out that Randall is alive, but where he and Boo meet and she forgives him. That is seriously gonna be a "bring your roll of Bounty or trunk-load of Kleenex" moment right there, and all the tough dudes can pretend to have "allergies".

I actually feel like maybe they hinted that Boo herself won't be in the film, but that her voice actress might be. I think her voice actress is probably now a young teen or somewhere around that age and maybe she will be voicing a different character. One of the female monsters perhaps?

Ah yeah...incontrollable ability to stay visible. Huh...maybe he does when he's surprised (maybe THAT'S actually what Wazowski is surprised about when he first walks in. He surprises Randall, who just vanishes) === I'm pretty sure Randy IS a name of endearment while officially it IS Randall...I mean...Randall doesn't seem like a nickname, Randy does... === I agree, the workings of his blending actually coming from his moods (which does make sense, cameleons change colors not for their background but from their moods right?). === I would say scale discoloration but...heh heh...maybe they are a form of lifted scales that act as pimples or the like heh heh. WOW...he is really coming out as good shy guy... ======================================
This doesn't...seem right. I mean this TEN YEARS packed into one film? Most of it has to be at the university and to witness the change and...a montage MAYBE but... Honestly this seems...too rushing... --- Sullivan and Wazowski were kicked out of the Scareing Program, if I recall, NOT ROR...ROR wouldn't let Wazowski in... --- Toys can go some-what beyond things...and essentially are branches outward...not necessarily something that WILL be shown... "The movie ends with us walking into Monsters, Inc. and working in the mail room." Way to ruin the ending Crystal...but if so, that would be a flashforward I'd imagine, not a full on "here-to-here-to-here". So next to all of the movie will be at the university, then a flashforward after graduation... Mailroom though? Huh, working their way up...guess they didn't get as good qualifications as I thought. Sullivan, previous info, was said to get straight As on his scareing simulations... --- Monsters Inc. WILL be in the film, that's a pretty much a confirmation. We see it in the trailer. Ehh...if they rush the ending it'll be so cheap... --- I don't think Boo will be...I mean honestly, I think who was being interviewed (I just glanced over the stuff for highlights, not the speakers) was trying to let things down gently that it's not the time yet and that she'd, if she's involved, is voicing somebody else.

Now that I think of it...maybe Wazowski and Sullivan don't get into the Scareing program in the end...

Now that I think of it...maybe Wazowski and Sullivan don't get into the Scareing program in the end... Yeah, maybe they don't.....and yet still manage to become the top scare team at MI. Might explain part of why Randall gets annoyed by that. It seems unfair.

Actually, it's been discussed that Sullivan's numbers, like Randall's, have been tampered with later on. I think Randall is on OK terms with them up until that point...
I mean in the flash-end, if we see Sullivan and Wazowski aiming together to "work up the ladder" (and....a certain somebody INFLUENCES that...I might make that somewhere in my MU bits), and we see Sullivan passing out mail on Scare Floor F, and he notices Randall is on the floor (with...who knows. Wazowski was originally his assistant, who knows maybe Randall DOES take on Sullivan as one (as in an earlier draft)...they're both surprised to see each other, but in a glance. They don't say anything, Randall takes his mail and there's a moment that they both realize and accept that "we're past that"...a good way to end things at THAT point in time.
