So....in honour of something we recently learned about MU....
What is your favourite kind of cupcake?
I like red velvet and I also like ones that have mint flavouring.
I rarely eat them though....just don't have much of a sweet tooth.

As long as they don't have coconut(HATE that stuff) or almonds(deathly allergic to 'em) I'm game. Pretty much any with chocolate in any form is probably my favorite, though I would totally love it if somebody would bake some COFFEE-flavored cupcakes. That would rock on some many levels, seriously.

I've had some coffee-flavoured chocolate though and other stuff that I'm okay with. With coffee itself though I feel like I'd need to add cream or stuff to it to like it and that would just make it unhealthy so I prefer to drink tea. There might be some kind of coffee bean I would like though but I haven't bothered to try to find it. LOL. I just stick with tea. Sorry that you are allergic to almonds. It must suck to be allergic to stuff. My boyfriend is allergic to some stuff although I'm not so I got lucky when it comes to allergies.

It must suck to be allergic to stuff. My boyfriend is allergic to some stuff although I'm not so I got lucky when it comes to allergies. Allergies do suck, especially the ones that can kill you. I"m not allergic to many foods, thank goodness, and I'm not that fond of almonds anyway so I don't miss them, but I do have to read ingredients on stuff that might possibly contain almonds or almond extract and I have to pass on things I DO love, like trail mixes, if they contain almonds, and most unfortunately do. It's the hidden almonds, like those chopped up in cakes or things like that or the extract used in making some cakes or candies that really are a problem, especially if it's something where the ingredients are available for me to read(something that raises more than a few eyebrows in social situations..."'scuse me, would you mind handing me that carton out of the trash can so I can read it to see if these cookies have almonds in them?"). I nearly died once from almond extract in a homemade brownie at a bake sale and the only reason I'm still here typing this is because there was a doctor's office just a block away with a good stock of epinephrine and oxygen intubation equipment. But yeah, the coffee thing...I'm totally addicted. I drink probably on average 2-4 cups per day, which isn't a lot compared to some people, but I like coffee strong and dark, with just a bit of Splenda, none of that creamer or anything like that. I've been drinking coffee since I was a toddler, albeit in diluted form, since my father used to make us "coffee milk", as he called it, which was basically a latte, when I was a little kid, and the amount of milk-per-coffee ratio gradually decreased until it became all coffee by the time I was in college. There are a lot of health benefits to coffee if you don't put all that stuff in it. There are few aromas I love better than brewing coffee; I totally wish someone would make one of those "Little Tree" air fresheners with that smell so I would hang it up in my truck! pitbulllady

My boyfriend is actually allergic to my pet guinea pigs, unfortunately. Whenever he stays over at my place he has to take allergy meds....and he can't go hang out down where their cages are for an extended period of time(their cages are in the basement though so it's not TOO bad for him)....but yeah he can't really go down there for very long. He doesn't have any allergies that would kill him, I don't think....but then again I wouldn't want to risk him being by them for too long and him potentially having a serious reaction, because you never know. I didn't know he'd be allergic to them before I got them(he didn't know either) and he doesn't want me to give them away because he knows I love them. He loves the guineas too....he just can't be around them for very long at any given time. He actually used to have a pet guinea pig himself as a kid and I'm not sure if he was allergic back then, it might have been something that developed....but even if he was he wouldn't have known back then because his dad apparently made them keep the guinea pig in the shed outside and it died of exposure. My boyfriend's dad did a lot of stuff that I think traumatized my boyfriend as a child. In terms of allergies, he also gets bad reactions to a lot of pollen in the spring. Anyway, as for almonds....even though I'm not allergic to them, I prefer most other kinds of nuts better. It would be really annoying though to have to read the labels on all food items to make sure there are no traces of something in it. I imagine that would be really annoying when going to restaurants. That's interesting about your introduction to coffee. I wonder if I'd be like that if I was slowly introduced to it since I was little...although milk was an issue for me as a kid. I was lactose intolerant. I'm not sure if that's considered a kind of allergy or not though. I wasn't an extreme case though because I could still eat ice cream and yogurt and cheese....just not milk itself. I never liked milk much though anyway on it's own. I prefer soy milk, so that's what I drink these days. Anyway, yes I have heard coffee is good for you if you don't drink so much that you overload on caffeine and if you don't add a lot of bad stuff for it. A lot of people order a double double......double cream and double sugar. That can't be healthy really. You know speaking of caffeine though....that's what my sister used to call me when we were little kids. I'm the older sibling and when she was little she couldn't pronounce the 'th' sound in my name. She also left out the 'l' so she'd pronounce my name like caffeine. My name is Kathleen and she pretty much called me Kaffeen. LOL. It was hilarious. We still talk about it sometimes.

I, too, am highly allergic to rodents of all kinds, including Guinea Pigs. That sucks worst than having a food allergy, imo. It's really difficult for ME, of all people, to be allergic to animals. I used to have pet Guinea Pigs as a child, too, and voles, and neither caused me any problems. I raised rats and mice for many years after I started teaching, originally started out breeding them to feed to my snakes then really got more into pet breeding, and at first, I had no problem, but gradually I started having more and more noticeable reactions to being around them, ditto for my big cats, and it got to the point where just being in proximity to these animals would trigger horrific asthma attacks that can indeed be life-threatening. To make things worse, the EPA here in the US has banned the over-the-counter epinephrine-based asthma inhalers that worked well for so many people, and banned the main propellent in the prescription inhaler as well, making the new formulas non-generic and VERY expensive, so most sufferers can't afford it. I no longer have health insurance, and a tiny little asthma inhaler now costs me well over $100.00, and they don't last long at all. I can't risk being around anything that will trigger an attack because I can't go to the ER and I can't afford medication that will stave it off.

They shouldn't have banned that stuff. I'm guessing that they did it because people were using some of the ingredients in drugs? Here is Blanca, one of my guinea pigs, flopping out while I pet her(my hand is all blurry as heck though lol): 25.media.tumblr.com/afbf2d1056b41ab01b652c4a859614cf/tumblr_mhxrnzn1nK1rofdseo1_1280.jpg

They claimed it was destroying the ozone layer. They practically stated that they'd rather sacrifice the hundreds of thousands of people who suffer from asthma in order to "save the environment". That is how our government thinks. This is where their priorities lie. It's like our Vice President telling women last week that they didn't need a gun to stop a violent rape/beating, all they needed was a whistle and a police call box! pitbulllady pitbulllady
