What happens to people like Randall, if he survives? Will he realistically change, or will he just become even more bitter? We all want to see him turn over a new leaf, I know, but is that credible?

It certainly is credible, regardless of his age. Most older people tend to become "crochety" because of many things, not the least of which is their own bodies failing and there being nothing they can do about it, combined with the could-care-less attitude of the medical community that's supposed to help ease their suffering and physical pain. On top of that, many lose their family members and loved one, so there is the lonliness and boredom factor. I'm sure that these situations are no different for monsters than for humans, the exception being that they apparently have a longer natural lifespan than we do(Waternoose was supposed to be like, 149 at the time of the movie). Randall was already angry and bitter as a 25-year-old, but hopefully he will encounter SOMEONE who will change his outlook(or help HIM to change it), and that is still within the realm of possibility.

I didn't know monsters aged so quickly! At least in the DVD extra, "History of the Monster world" they mention that Monsters live to be older than 1000.

I'd kinda take that in the same light as claims of our Old Testament of HUMANS living to be over 900, in spite of no evidence that this was the case. Then again, Waternoose was supposed to have been over 100, but then, he LOOKED older than dirt, too. At the age of 25, Randall was pretty much very accurately comparable to a human male of that same age, so he'd probably age at more or less the same rate, give or take a decade. All his stress, unfortunately, can take years off of that. pitbulllady

Well Waternoose actually attended and Ivy Leauge school at....well some reason they say "tender age" of around 100 (I don't recall the last two digits but I DO recall the "tender" bit and that it was over 100)
Well if Ran has some dragonic blood in him he probably ages more slowly...

*folds arms* Depends really...as dinosaurs *looks at Pitbulllady for a bird comment, but continues* started the "reptilie age"...and that occur, if I recall, before humans. So Dragons could have been around since then, being the most intelligent speices around. In some terms they could be called "pure blood monsters" ad they don't descend from the human gene pool. Of course mixed breeding is rare between Mons like those in Monstropolis with Dragons, as few are around at the time, thank you humans -_- Currently they are rare to find thanks to human's massacaring them in the knight age for glory and "honor". It'll probably be rare to find a Mon that has dragonic genes, and even more so for a human. But for Ran, given that he has characteristics of many reptilian species, and is just reptilian alone, he could have draconic blood. Heh...imagine...Ran's parents as dragons....no wonder we never see them -_-

Heh...imagine...Ran's parents as dragons....no wonder we never see them -_- The human concept of dragons would be monsters, since they do not exist in our world, but then, I guess that depends on your concept of a "monster". That terms has been used to mean something that is much bigger than normal or very odd-looking, or something/someone who is very dangerous and scary, or perceived as such. It can mean someone who has done something horrible. In Monsters, Inc. terms, a "monster" would be a non-human, sentient, and SAPIENT biological being, capable of the highest-order mental skills, including creating, inventing and developing complex technologies, languages and cultures, equal in every respect to humans, just different in looks. In some legends, dragons fit this description, while in others, they were just large reptiles, perhaps with an ability not possessed by other reptiles(that breathing fire thing, or flying), but still basically animals, no different from crocodiles or other carnivorous reptiles. While many legends of dragons WERE based on finding the fossil remains of dinosaurs, it's pertinent to add that dinosaurs were NOT reptiles, but were warm-blooded, fast-growing creatures which were indeed more closely related to birds. pitbulllady
