Well you know like in Harry Potter...was anyone sorted into a house when they were in high school or in any of their other schooling years?
I don't think it happens much in North America and I was never sorted into a house at school during any of my school years but my b/f is from the UK and in high school his school had four houses like what they have at Hogwarts and he was placed into....Randolph. LMAO!!!
It's awesome how much it sounds like Randall.

Not so much a house as a dorm. I remember I really wanted to get into a centrally located and older building on campus for my last couple years. We had a lottery system then, and I actually managed to make it in! It was called Miller, and it was constructed in 1915. It was small, with only 8 suites, which meant it was quiet. Being centrally located on campus, it was convenient too. I love old buildings, and it was really an ideal living experience up until I graduated.

I love old buildings too.....and that's really old considering that is almost 100 years old now!

Yeah! It still kind of blows my mind that I was living in a building that was 95 years old at the time. It was certainly an improvement over the previous dorm I'd been in. That was a mixed one... Freshmen and upper classmen in there... not a good combination. The nice thing about Miller was that with only 8 suites, space was limited and usually the ones with the higher lottery points got in first, so it kept Sophomores out, and there was no way Freshmen could get in. Considering the previous dorm I lived in, Turner, was actually set on fire during my time there... yeah... Miller was a VAST improvement. Never had any incidents whatsoever living there. Plus it was air conditioned as well, something Turner was not. >_> I remember the air conditioning in Miller was so archaic though lol. We weren't allowed to open any windows whatsoever as it would break the AC. That was fine with me, as the temp was pretty comfortable most of the time, thought I constantly had to remind newcomers to keep their windows CLOSED.

There are some crazy things that sometimes happen on campus. I've never actually lived on campus during my schooling because all the places I ever went to were close enough to my house that I could live at home still.

Yeah... crazy too... some idiot lit a billboard in the hall on fire at 4:00 AM or so. Fire alarm woke us all up, and as we evacuated, the fire happened to be on my floor. Couldn't exactly tell WHAT was burning at the time, though I could see the flames. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished before it got too out of control, but still... only real building fire I've ever been in. Craziness. And yeah, I lived at home the first two years, and just commuted in to the community college. Later went away for my last two years. It was pretty good, and I enjoy living away from home... only wish I could now, but the current economy is not permitting that.

Anyway, my sister has been living away from home since she was 18(and she's 24 now) but she'll be moving back in later this year just after she turns 25. I've never lived on my own at this point(I'm a little older....27 turning 28 this year) but it's hard to live on your own in a major city. Not to mention I think I would get lonely on my own. I like living in a house with other people....and people I know well/am close to. I'm not the type who would do so well with a random roommate because I just find it kind awkward.

Well the closest myself have ever got sorted into a 'house' type was in Grade School and Middle School. There was always two 'houses'. example. in the school I was when I first started the school was 5A. then so on until 8A. so it was KA KB, 1A 1B, 2A 2B and so forth. We too earned things. pizza parties, special things like day just for movies like that. it was for the most well behaved class. Funny thing. I was always in class A and it was the most well behaved class while B was the worst. Until 8th grade that I was placed in 8B. That year for some reason, the class was better behaved then A.

Oh I actually had that too because I remember being in 7C and all of that. XD Anyway that's random that all the more behaved kids were in the same one together and the less well behaved kids were all together.

Yeah...they sorted us random...at least I think they did. It looked like they did. Sue and Bob and me will be in the same class and then the next year Sue and Bob would be in another and then the next year Bob would be in the same with me and so forth.
But it was werid that the kids in B was uslly the roudy ones.

Yeah my school has houses. We have competitions and the winners get awarded points on them and lots of other stuff throughout the year. The house who gets most points at the end of the year wins a cup. My house has never won it in all my time at the school. We never even win competitions. The last time we won was in 2001, the year MI came out! Since then this other house has had a ten-year winning streak. I know your pain Randall!

It's cool that you get to have a house though and win a house cup, like in Harry Potter! I'm pretty sure the house I got sorted into in Harry Potter is the one that wins the cup the least often(Hufflepuff).

Yeah it sucks, we have four and the houses have colours like in Harry Potter too. There'e St.Bride (yellow), tudor (blue) and the house that always wins, ward (grrrr) is red. My house, fleet, has the colour green. Wait, does that make us like Slytherin?
