Got another one. This one is probably one of the most interesting finds I have....well....found. If you notice, Randall has a few definate slits on his stomach there. Any ideas people?

Those are just shadows between rows of scales caused by a fold in the skin as he's leaning forward. That's perfectly normal for reptilian skin. My snakes have the same sort of folds when they bend or curve. The ones on his neck and sides AREN'T normal for scaly skin, though. They are deeply recessed with raised edges, and are devoid of scales, indicating an injury to that part at some time. Believe me, with as many reptiles as I've had, I KNOW what scars look like on scaly skin!

WOW. The animators sure were accurate with reptiles. They must have known as much as pitbulllady. ;D

WOW. The animators sure were accurate with reptiles. They must have known as much as pitbulllady. ;D Actually, I have read that one of Randall's head animators DID spend hours observing the Komodo dragons and some pythons at the San Diego zoo, while Sulley's head animators had to observe the Kodiak bears. Must be a rough job....sigh. I would surmise that Randall's animators must have spent at least some time watching the big cats, too, since Randall's movement is not reptilian so much as feline. pitbulllady

...kind of like the makers of "The Lion King." Or, I'd imagine, any animated movie requiring realistic animal movements. And the combination of feline motion in a reptilian body=

Well Ran had 30 animators.....
You know it's a pity. Although Sullivan's landmark in his hair was interesting, we never got to see much of Randall did we?

I still think that Randall's eyes are far more of an animation landmark than Sulley's hair, even though they might not have been as much trouble, technically speaking. Randall's eyes are just so much more lifelike and have such incredible depth of emotion. I don't even think it was all intentional; after all, why go to that much trouble to create a feature of a character who is supposed to be the "bad guy"?

Who thinks it was their intention for Randall to be popular? Who intents for anything for characters?

I don't think they intended for Randall to have such amazing, expressive eyes OR to be so well-liked. It just....happened! ;D

I don't think they intented for most of what happened to him... Afterall, Eisner and the other Disney higher ups forced Randall into the villain center ring. But most of Pixar's people didn't want that.
They didn't want Randall a villain. And for some, they succeeded in telling so.
I think they tried their best but didn't intend on the actions.

Talking of feline grace, does anyone here think that the bit in the film when Randall's next to the control panel in his hideaway and he crawls over it, is the most graceful thing EVER? ;D

Well maybe. It's the first time I think we actually get a "locked" view of his balance.
Yeah I'd say so.
You know. I noticed that when he releases the pin to the door Sullivan and Wazowski are on, I notice his tail is bent inward, right where his back legs start. Talk about bendable.

Call me nuts, but the amount of times I've played that bit over and over, staring at the screen in awe... ;D
