Or, in my case, his sister, his sister's daughter, his parents, and HOPEFULLY at some point his brother. ;D

I don't thing that Randall would actually ever get so low as to take a coward's way out, but I can imagine he'd get to the point where he wouldn't care what happened. He was almost to that point in the movie, especially by the point that he was beaten by Boo and then grabbed by the throat by Sulley. That's why he did not struggle or protest until almost the very instant he was thrown into the Human World. He had reached a point, emotionally, where nothing mattered anymore, and it wasn't until his survival instincts kicked in that he made an effort to get them to spare him. When a person gets to the point that they don't care, they are easily manipulated into doing things they wouldn't ordinarily do.

Well yeah.
But I wouldn't put it past Randall for suicide. Sure he's no coward, but when things go SO wrong in your life, when you never feel like your going to make a difference, when theres nothing you feel to hold onto, then you would do it.
By the time in the movie, Randall might not have thought about Suicide......but earlier in his life.....

Hmm. I'm still not really keen on the idea of Randall considering suicide, especially not during the movie, as Pitbulllady said. Yeah, perhaps earlier in his life. I just figured Randall to be someone that, when something devastating happens, he just pushes it to the back of his mind rather than dealing with it head-on. I guess there is a point when things become too much, and people can only handle a cetain amount of bad luck, but I'm guessing that Randall could handle things like close friends and family passing away better than most on the outside, though on the inside...

Actually. Randall probably hasn't witnessed his parents death, if they are dead.
At his young age, Randall kept bottling up the anger and sadness, sort of forming it's own physical characteristic.
If you guys looked at the preview, you can see what I mean by "Physical Characteristic".
Anyway. When it burns over him, at his young age, he just wants to end his life because he expects everyday of his life to be torture. But when he is an adult, he can make choices. Sometimes important ones.
Poor guy.....he knows death and sadness too much. If only they knew what he has experienced....

Ok..... We'd need about 134 Ak47's, 2 dozen grenades, handguns for the trigger happy people....
And we'll also need to bring snacks. What? It's a HUGE building. ^_^

Yea, 'cuz my friends in PETA would be all over us...
But hey, who cares as long as it's only used on Eisner. ;D Besides, it's for an animal-related good cause...Randall's an animal....like so many other characters...

But hey, who cares as long as it's only used on Eisner. ;D Besides, it's for an animal-related good cause...Randall's an animal....like so many other characters... I have to bet to differ here. Randall is a PERSON; he might not be a HUMAN person, but like the Native Americans and many other ancient cultures, I would have to include something other than Homo sapiens as "people" if indeed there were sentient, intelligent, self-aware beings who are basically like us in all respects, other than physical appearance. Remember, all the monsters in the Monster World are descended from humans who got thrown out of our world, the "Mons", so their DNA would actually be quite similar to ours in many respects, physical appearance or phenotype notwithstanding. I don't think of the monsters in "Monsters, Inc." as being animals at all, which is why I tend to make such a distinction between those characters, and say, the ones in "The Lion King". I mean, biologically, WE are members of the Animal Kingdom, but what separates Randall, from something like a dog or a Water Monitor, for example, is that he is self-aware, can not only plan and think of a future, but verbalize it, is capable of abstract thought, which would include a belief in an Afterlife of some sort, uses high-order language, can understand the moral implications of what he does(a "conscience"), even if he does not always follow through with that understanding-in other words, everything WE can do. I have some very bright dogs, but I have never seen any evidence that they are capable of any of those things. pitbulllady
