... but has anyone here have heard of the Firebird Suite by Igor Stravinsky? I know that a lot of people are not into classical music in this era, but I just want to know if any of you heard of this great piece. I may sound like a dork, but I think that the Firebird is one of the most beautiful musical pieces that I've ever heard in my whole entire life. And that means something from a young fifteen-year old. And, of course(I feel like an idiot now...), I first heard it in Fantasia 2000. I fell deeply in LOVE with it, especially the finale with the beautiful strings rising. But I always feel warm and passionate whenever I hear the music that comes out when the sprite appears...<3 Especially in the combination of the animation that Disney had done with it. Anthony DeRosa did a MARVELOUS job being supervising animator on the wonderful and beautiful Spring Sprite, and I think that the animated short went well with the music. That's all I have to say... I'll shut up now. 'M just curious.

You don't have to be embarrassed for being a classical nerd. I myself am a Numanoid ( a Numan fanatic, albeit of his '90s stuff and previous), not to mention that I seem to be one of the only '80s synth-pop/new wave nuts here. From what I remember, it WAS a pretty nice piece of music. If it makes you feel better, Vanessie, I DO have one classical piece in my music library, albeit for comical reasons: "Ride of the Valkyries", performed by the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. ;D

Cool, I feel better now. I dunno, I just feel secluded from liking classical music over everyone else liking hard rock and hip-hop. I don't hate it, but at the same time, I don't like it, for some reason. But I seem to LOVE classical music because it's so pure, magical, and so original... I just feel passionate for it. <3 I have so many classical songs in my iPod, including the whole soundtrack of Fantasia and Fantasia 2000. Funny, in the original Fantasia, they had a lot of choices of classical pieces, and Ride of the Valkyries was one of them! i even check this awesome book called "Walt Disney Animation Studios: Story" and it had some sketches of what they were planning for the sequence, but sadly, it was cut from the final film. But like Don Hahn says, it's hard to let go of ideas we love, but we have to get used to it and create more ideas. ;D Would've been awesome though. As for the Firebird, I always listen to it everyday, yes, that's how much I love the score. Heck, it's second in my top 25 playlist! But it's behind #1, The Egg Travels from Dinosaur by James Newton Howard. I want to pass it, though! ;D

Rest assured, I don't like hip-hop/rap either, or almost ANY kind of modern music, for that matter. Taking it a step further, I DO like what I call semi-classical film and game music. As an example, the music for the first three Tomb Raider games, while not an actual orchestra, are DEFINITELY your style, Vanessie.

Oh, really? Cool! i do like some music from games as well. For example, my most FAVORITE game in the world is Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. I WOULD play it, but I'm afraid that I'll be addicted to it like the LAST two times!XD Yes, it's that fun. But I love some of the instrumental music in the game. Like the Great Boggly Tree And Petalburg But I also love the score from my MOST FAVORITE ride in California Adventure. It's the loading-unloading music that you hear, and it's by Jerry Goldsmith, the composer who did Mulan. It just sounds so beautiful, it lifts me up...
