The New Orleans Saints, long-time underdogs in American football, have just whupped up on the Indianapolis Colts-final score, 31-17.
I'd sure hate to be a cop in N'awlins right about now!

NO! THAT'S what it stood for...New Orleans....*rubs temple* Jeez...I always sucked at states. Was relaying scores to my mom despite not being a football fan myself 0_0 I kept seeing that big "NO" at the top of the scoreboard throughout the game, and it STILL took awhile for it to sink in what it meant, lol! Normally, you see New Orleans abbreviated as "NOLA"-New Orleans, Louisiana(LA). I won't say I'm a huge football fan, but I've always supported the Saints, even through those many years when they sucked and everyone made fun of them. That's where the joke about "Hell freezing over came from", from a joke about a Cajun who died and went to Hell, and still kept partying. Satan couldn't figure that guy out, and kept turning up the heat to try to roast him, but everytime he'd check up on the dude, the old Cajun would just explain that this "weather" felt like Louisiana in June, July or August, with August being the furnaces of Hell at full blast. Finally, Satan decides to try a different trick to make the guy miserable; after all, NO ONE is supposed to pass a good time in Hell, otherwise it wouldn't be HELL, now would it? Anyway, the Devil turned off the furnaces and cranked up the AC, wide-open, until every last inch of formerly firey pit was a frozen wasteland. Certain that he'd finally gotten the best of the old Cajun, the Devil went to check up on him, expecting to find him frozen stiff, or miserable at the least, but instead, he found the guy leaping about with joy, clapping and shouting. Astounded, Satan asked him what the celebration was about THIS time, to which the old Cajun replied, "Da Saints done did won da Supahbowl!" Hope dat Satan can learn ta snowboard, cher! pitbulllady

I feel like such a traitor as I was secretly rooting to for the Saints. I'm far from a football fan, but I thought they deserved it more than the Colts, who won just a couple years ago.
It's going to be one wild week down there, that's all I can guarantee.

*yawns* Well...not a sports fan myself but hey, the team that wasn't expected to win did win so gotta give them some credit on that...but the superbowl did have an upside for me, made it an extremely slow day at work. ;D

Not a fan of sports myself, and I'm a guy! Man, that would be something to look forward to in jobs, Mistica: an excused lack of extremely high productivity. ;D

Man, that would be something to look forward to in jobs, Mistica: an excused lack of extremely high productivity. ;D Hey, a good number of my guy friends hated sports, especially football. Lol, I remember one of my guy friends would yell out some stupid stuff when we were in marching band, including that our football team sucked XD. I was surprised that no one took him out back and beat him up for that but it wouldn't matter, he's not the type to care anyway. Well...slow days at work have their upsides and their downsides. Upside: less customers to deal with. Down side: Since there are less customers then we are expected to get out and price more stuff.

I have honestly never even heard that joke before about the saying "hell freezing over", so it's new to me. How hot does it get in the South during the summer time? I want to know how my place compares to yours.

I have honestly never even heard that joke before about the saying "hell freezing over", so it's new to me. How hot does it get in the South during the summer time? I want to know how my place compares to yours. Triple digit temps are not uncommon during August in southern Louisiana, and of course, that's on top of about 85% or higher humidity. We usually get a week or so of such temps here in SC, too, but at least in Louisiana they get a sea breeze many afternoons off of the Gulf of Mexico or Lake Ponchartrain that cools things down a bit. It's actually cooler in the swamps themselves, especially during the summer when the trees are in full-leaf, since they block out much of the sunlight. It can also be bitterly cold during the winter, since there is no mountain range to block frigid air down from Canada. I was there in early March once, and I think that was the coldest I've ever been, while the hottest was New Orleans in early June. pitbulllady
