Just a short question before I go out today- will come back a lot later probably, but I was wondering if anyone heard about a manga of Monsters Inc released ages ago (apparently).
The synopsis I've found doesn't give much- but I was wondering if it was just basically the movie in comic/manga book form or a brand new story- I think it MAY be the former actually- the synopsis I found seems to be just like the movies.
I was wondering however- if it IS just a different way of telling the movie's story- whether it was better/worse or if things came across differently in it in any way. If any characters come across differently because it is in a different media or perhaps because of the writers.
Just wondering if anyone ever had it or has it or whatever and their thoughts on it if they do.
(I'm tempted to get it if I can, as well as the travesty of the four boom comics we know so I can see it first hand. I say- TEMPTED. It doesn't mean I necessarily will. But it's mainly because of the CDA that gets me most interested there in that respect.)

I have seen it, and it's not that different from the movie, the main thing that stuck out in my mind is that the redneck in the trailer into which Randall was thrown was a MAN, not a woman. It's been awhile since I saw a copy of the manga, and I can't recall if the man had a shovel(as in the movie)or a shotgun. Randall was portrayed even worse in the manga than in the movie, much more screaming at and threatening other co-workers, that much I do remember. pitbulllady

Well that's not good- how about Sulley? Mike? The CDA? Or heck Waternoose?
(Hopes the latter wasn't made out/pprotrayed to be nicer than how he was.)
Then again if it's been a while since you've seen it it might be difficult to remember that sort of thing.
(A man with a SHOTGUN?!)
Nelly: what was your impression?

Of course, I own it ^_^
It's basically the movie and nothing much is stemmed from it...other than Randall calling Sullivan "Sully" incorrectly and that Celia's mother has something against Wazowski, or men in general.
*shakes head* Randall actually looks BETTER in the boom comics than in the Manga. Most of him is distorted in that way....well does everyone remember him with that huge dispaportional grin? Not the one everyone loves, but that one that is just so...wrong? With two of his hands together? Well THAT'S what he looks like through the Manga. ------- Indeed was a man, and thankfully YES a shovel. And...funny enough the scene is happening BACKWARDS. With this Randall coming in from the left rather than the right. Though yeah, they also have him allot more threatening. ---------------------------- Give me a moment to get a sypnosis....

Wow, I didn't know about a manga. It's disapointing to hear that it's not much different than the movie, with the exception of portraying Randall even worse -.- Does anyone have a link to some scans so I can see the art? I can't find any online.

Thank you! Oh, I looked on TokyoPop and couldn't find anything. I guess I missed it or was at the wrong link.
Uhg, they did make Randall look pretty bad. Does he pretty much have that expression the whole manga?
Lol, Mike is so...adorable. They even gave him blushing cheeks. Oh, gawd.

Apparently so *nods* Funny how they have the middle of his head look like some sorta pulpy buldge 0_0 Seems despite it following the storyline, this Randall got hit in the head BEFORE heh.

Waternoose looks like he's hit the burgers a bit much compared to the movie- I'm not sure why he just... looks so much fatter.
Sulley looks like he's hit something a bit more questionable than burgers at odd moments if you get what I mean. So does that monster who screechs about the sock. Plus what is with Sulley's nose in one of the panels?
Mike... he looks so... cute. He';s been bitten by a chibi and is made of sugar and looks like he'd shoot sparkles out his butt. (Until he opens his mouth to talk- then he's all about boasting). And he's also bizarrely feminine when he's 'dancing'. This is just giving fodder for Mike X Sulley shippers, which are probably out there- or at least the type of slash shippers which give people who simply treat slash ships just like het a bad name. (Even though I don't ship Mike-Sulley, and I wouldn't even if I saw them as gay/bi).
And George looks like he's hypnotised/possessed. So does Randall at odd moments actually.
Plus- the fact that Randall hits Fungus so he rockets out the room and whatever? That's just rediculous- he would not get away with that. Unless there is something very terribly wrong in Tokyo work places.
(Note to self- never get a job in Japan).
The Monsters Inc alternative provided by Tokyo-pop is a dark and exciting world of eating disorders, drugs and demon possession.
In other words like 99% of all 'adult' anime. (*)
Glorious!
(*) Statistics of this post have a 100% likelihood of being made up completely on the spot and should be taken with a heaping pile of salt.
Including this one.

I think Sulley's nose was longer in the one shot had to do with everyone complimenting him.
I don't think Japanese workplaces are like that as much as they have to prove Randall is OMG EVOL!!!11! Really, in the movie, I only noticed him snapping at Fungus a few times. I don't ever recall him smacking him across the room in any scene. Some deleted scene I missed? lol.
Hmm, there are a good amount of tentacles in there XD

A long nose= being complimented? I do not really understand this, sorry, could you explain it for me?
I totally forgot about the tentacles too! My bad... XD.
Yeah- the whole Japan thing was kind of a joke, but that's hard to come off across the net- sorry my fault, should have isnerted a smiley or something there. Smacking people upside the head seems to be typical in many manga/animes though.
In all honesty though I'm picky over anime/manga- I can find... some I like... but most are....
Mmmm. The word I'm looking for escapes me. But you get me right?
But yeah, it's not the best art even let alone characterisation weirdness.

I was thinking it the big nose was around the same lines being big headed. Like he's getting egotistical will all the compliments. But I'm not sure.
I was actually joking about the hitting as well. Lulz. I understood what you meant. So no emocons needed :3 I have noticed that hitting people into great distances is a common tread with anime/manga. Team Rocket in EVERY episode of Pokemon. Haha.
I'm picky with my manga too. I have my guilty pleasures, but it will take me a while to get over an art style I don't like. If it's not the art, it's the story. So, I know what you mean. Anime is even harder for me. I usually won't watch an anime based off a manga because I'll end up reading the manga first and disliking the anime for how slow it moves. I find that anime that's not based off a manga is so much better. It also has better animation, in most cases. It just so hard to find, since I would say 90% of anime is manga based.

Apparently this Waternoose passed the salad bar in those days ^_^
Manga does have a knack for distortion here and there depending on what's being portrayed in the scene. So maybe it was that...
*laughs* Tah...thahahah shoot sparkles out tahahahah ^0^ ---------- Maybe it's a form of being "big headed"
