Anyone else seen this movie?
Normally I wouldn't have started this thread, but while I was in school, I realized similarities between Randall and the main character, Donnie Darko.
1. Both are edgy
2. Both are unusually intelligent (for those who haven't seen DD, for instance, Donnie at one point has a fight with one of his teachers over dividing the whole spectrum of emotions into two extremes, which were fear and love)
3. Both have a mix of blindness to and fear of whoever controls them (Randall=Waternoose, Donnie=a weird bunny-suited "imaginary" friend named Frank)
But I digress. Did anyone see it? If so, what did you think?

I've never heard of it actually but I looked up the trailer on You tube. Oh man, that rabbit thing, Neca made a figurine of it which is part of their Cults classics series, I always wondered where that creature was from.

Yes, it's from Donnie Darko. Interestingly, in "real life" within the movie, the bunny look actually existed as a mere costume for a Halloween party! I'm not going to say anything about who owned it though, for the sake of spoilers.
Anyway, I've noticed your interests, and it seems to me you'd DEFINITELY be interested in the movie. Not only is it a psychological thriller (though the director merely considers it sci-fi), it also contains an eerie soundtrack, featuring songs from artists like Echo and the Bunnymen, which fit because it takes place back in the late '80s.

Huh, well, if I ever get a chance to rent it then I'll try to give it a look then assuming that it's not too out there to the point where I wouldn't be able to understand it.
As far as my interests go, hopefully I'm not coming off as too strange. Sometimes I forget that certain parts of my personality may be too strange for others while even some interests I have people may even find it hard to believe if they were basing it off of first impression (as in meeting me in person kind of first impression). Basically, I'm not freaking out anybody I would hope. If so then let me know, I sometimes forget that this board isn't the same as the TNBC or LDD forums that I'm also on which on there, being a little different never really crosses the minds of the members present. Then again, I'm sure that there are some interests of the other board members that I would even find strange myself. On second thought, maybe I shouldn't worry about it too much then.

I'm pretty positive it would be a movie you would like, Mistica. Just from looking at your other interest. It's actually is a bit confusing at first. You might have to watch it a couple times. One of those movies. I know people who've watched it several times and still don't really know. To tell the truth, it's still a bit confusing to me sometimes. Doesn't stop it from being a good movie.
As for Donnie being a bit like Randall, I don't see too big of a connection. There's similar in a few tendencies, but I think their overall personality is very different. I don't know, maybe I should watch it again with Randall in mind.

Like the soundtrack, though ; I was just basing my conclusion on what I could remember.

Haha, maybe we should both watch it then. It is close to Halloween.
What's on the soundtrack besides Mad World? That's an amazing song by just by itself.

I was referring to Michael Andrews' score to the movie, actually, but in terms of the songs, there's another Tears for Fears song, "Head Over Heels," and Echo and the Bunnymen's "The Killing Moon." The other artists and songs escape my memory, most likely old-school goth artists, though.
