Pitbulllady suggested that Randall could be a "stand-up", since SB was one early in his career. I would think that this would require considerable knowledge of the human world. I once saw a scifi program set in a near-future world that included such an act. The audience was laughing, but the jokes mad no sense. It showed the alienness of the society quite well. Maybe while he was exiled he learned enough to entertain adults this way? And human adults have come to "accept" monsters?

WHO TOLD YOU ABOUT....!! Uhh nevermind heh ^_^ Actually Randall has learned quite allot about humans over the years. But he wouldn't have needed to if he WAS taken seriously as a comedian. That is if he was ALLOWED to perform and the audience didn't freak out and form a mob. I've seen many Comedy Central Stand-up comics, many of which, very funny. I'm sure Randall would have no problem doing as such. Though some of the kiddies might want to have some ear-plugs, cause I'm sure Randall will voice his opinions with no hands bared, with parents sometimes saying to their kids "don't applaud that!". ^0^

Maybe while he was exiled he learned enough to entertain adults this way? And human adults have come to "accept" monsters? Actually, it wouldn't require considerable knowledge of the Human World at all. One of the reasons that so many people liked the movie, Monsters, Inc., was because the situations there mirrored those here in OUR world. Monsters find the same things funny that we do, in other words, and have the same basic society, same family units, same geographical regions, same workplace woes and perks and what-not, so they already have the same things to draw upon, at least those in Monstropolis, in their version of the USA, do. There are only a few minor things, like their fondness, as a society, for stinky things, that set them apart from us. Even Mike, who is not the sharpest tack in the toolbox, quickly figured out how to make that kid laugh near the end of the movie, because he obviously realized that human kids, like monster kids, are into "gross-out" jokes and humor, so while the kid didn't get Mike's joke about Kindergarten having been the best three years of his life(the kid's expression clearly read, "this guy flunked KINDERGARTEN? TWICE??? What an idiot!"), he immediately connected when Mike let out that huge belch. How did Mike know to do that? Obviously it's because a monster kid would have found that funny, too. Randall would have the same basic sources as a human stand-up comic to draw upon for material: college, past girlfriends, his job, his co-workers, traffic jams, little quirks about the region of the country he comes from("...if the 'right of passage' where you come from is for two male adults to take you out in the woods blind-folded, and then turn you loose to see how long it takes you to find your way to the Tractor Supply's House, you just might be a Hoosier..."), clueless clerks at convenience stores, idiotic signs and product warnings, politicians, etc. Plus, Randall DOES have a lot more experience living in the Human World, to have figured out what sort of things are really specific to US, that we find funny. There just isn't that much difference between the culture of Monster America and Human America, that we couldn't find common ground to laugh at. pitbulllady

Is that a Jeff Foxworthy joke? ^_^ Of course Randall might be the perfect person for stand-up, as he's learned allot more about us than probably any monster in the human world. And he does have his own unique experiences to add to his entorage of jokes. Hm hm, and you can count on him not having anything holding him back about thrashing his old boss ^_- "What is he gonna do? FIRE ME?" ^0^
