Wears contact lens the size of a soup bowl (purchased at Cyclops Optical downtown). Processes over 5000 folders/week and 30 scream canisters/hour. Favorite date with Cecilia is a monster truck rally. His teddy bear has 4 legs.

You might wanna add this tidbit from Mike's bio: he was actually born with TWO eyes, which merged into one as he grew up-courtesy of Disney Adventure's "Monsters, Inc." Special Edition.
And people think RANDALL is creepy??
That part about the folders, though, is proof enough for me that Mike KNEW exactly where that door into the Louisiana bayou led, and that there would be people at home and awake at that time. He didn't pick that door at random.
Hard to picture Mike at a monster truck rally, though. He just doesn't have enough of a redneck side, if any at all, for that sort of thing. Celia Mae, maybe...I guess she's the one who really wants to go and he just tags along to make it seem like he wants to do the same things she does...more lies, actually.

Hence probably the contact lense heh.
*shakes head* Ironic enough that it was Randall who suggested he was more fit to be an assistant....both him and Sullivan were QUITE aware he wasn't much of a scarer in training.
Though I'd have to guess Pitbulllady that this one of the few events where Wazowski could actually badmouth outloud and not get scorned for it heh.

In the movie, he didn't seem to be displeased with the idea of going to a Monster Truck rally; he WAS excited, and I don't think anyone has to be a "redneck" to enjoy it either. Those are my two cents, anyway.

I can't picture Mike going wild at a Monster truck rally either. Have any of you (why am I asking this) saw those spin off holiday treats on the 2 disk? Uh, I don't know whether I would of originally thought that Mike did enjoy American Football.

Mike strikes me as being an "armchair athlete", in other words, someone watches from his living room and is an expert on the sport from that position only, but who has never actually participated in any sport whatsoever. He'd probably run from a football if anyone actually threw one to him and then make up some lame excuse/lie to justify his behavior, like, "I lost it in the sun and had to run to see where it was". If monster truck ralleys attract the same sort of crowds in the Monster World that they usually do here in the US, in the Human World, Mike would probably be like the proverbial fish out of water. Now, I can EASILY picture Sulley at one, or Randall for that matter, but not Mike. Mike is a "city slicker" if ever there was one, while both Sulley and Randall seem to come from more rural, Southern or Midwestern roots. pitbulllady

Though would think Randall would feel awkward shareing a ticket with Sullivan...heck, he got nervous when Sullivan wanted him to have dinner with his family *shakes head*

Randall strikes me more as a city dweller that lived out his life in the toughest neighborhoods of a densely populated borough, whereas Mike most likely had it easier living it up on the Upper East Side of Manhattan or something (or the Monster World’s equivalent of it). It’s an exaggeration, but you get I mean. Steve Buscemi helps perpetuate that image I have of Randall I guess, but he lends himself and his own experiences (as well as his distinctly Brooklyn accent!) a great deal to the characters that he portrays onscreen.

It’s an exaggeration, but you get I mean. Steve Buscemi helps perpetuate that image I have of Randall I guess, but he lends himself and his own experiences (as well as his distinctly Brooklyn accent!) a great deal to the characters that he portrays onscreen. Randall doesn't have that Brooklyn accent, though. This is one of the reasons why, when the movie came out, that many of Steve's die-hard fans failed to realize it was him, and some of them on the various Steve B. discussion boards even argued that it WASN'T, because the accent was "off". They were expecting Steve's characteristic Brooklynese/Italian-American "New Yoik", and didn't hear it. Randall has an accent that's got a lot of the southern Midwestern, or "Midlands" accent to it. For example, a Brooklyn native will typically pronounce words ending in an "er" sound as almost having an "uh" or "eh" sound on the end, while Randall actually exaggerates that "er" sound. Randall also tends to make two-syllable words out of some one-syllable words; case in point, when he pronounces the word, "door". It almost sounds like "Doh-err". The emphasis on the "er" sound, plus the stretching of some single-syllable words into two-syllable words and sticking the occasional "r" in where none is supposed to be, is typical for the lower or southern Midwestern dialect; it's a bit of a joke that those folks picked up all those "r's" that the people in Brooklyn, Boston and Charleston threw away! I've had the pleasure of traveling around quite a bit in my dog-showing days, and meeting many different people from different parts of the country, and I'm quite perceptive to different accents and dialects. The closest I've heard to the way that Randall speaks is the dialect of the middle-to-southern portions of Indiana. Even my father, who came into the room once as I was watching the DVD, asked if Tony Stewart was the voice of "that purple thing". Tony Stewart is a NASCAR driver, currently ranked No.1 in the points chase, who happens to be from Indiana, and he DOES sound a LOT like Randall, not only in dialect and speech pattern, but in voice quality/timbre, as well. Steve B. is such a talented actor, that he's able to perform many different dialects and accents equally well, and sound natural doing them. I've heard him to a very convincing and real Southern accent in Big Fish, for example, as since I'm from the Carolinas myself(where that movie was filmed), I'm a stickler for that, since most actors fall WAAAAY short of being able to pull of a Southern accent without sounding like Foghorn Leghorn or a parody of Gone With The Wind, which had some of the most AWFUL fake Southern accents I've ever heard, but which "cemented" in most people's brains how they thought a Southern accent would sound. pitbulllady

I seem to recall from the DVD esposition that Steve deliberately mad his voice a bit hoarse to do Randall.

Yeah...that and the fact Randall probably got stabbed somewhere in a city too 0_0 ---------- Then again, maybe Randall comes from everywhere ^0^ Or his ancestors did ^_^ Heck, people wondered where my voice came from...heard suggestions....Ireland...England...even Russia 0_0 *blinks* --------------- Yes he did, shouting/screaming out at uhh...ballgames and such. Which would be difficult for him. Because as I noted above...Steve was once stabbed in the neck at a bar before his role.

Yes, Steve deliberately strained his voice by yelling at the top of his lungs at New York Islanders hockey games...but that seems to be something he does, anyway. He's known to be an intense sports fan, lol. He did this because he felt that Randall's voice should have a stressed-out edge to it, that it would add to what sort of things were going on in the character's head and in his life. Incidentally, that neck injury that he sustained in a barroom brawl in North Carolina was relatively minor, not even life-threatening, and certainly made no impact on his ability to whoop and hollar with the other fans at a game. pitbulllady

Admire dedication...
Though you'd think that normal people would be cautious about it "coming up again", but just shows that Steve, who was even a voluenteer firefighter if I recall, doesn't sweat the small stuff ^_^

Though you'd think that normal people would be cautious about it "coming up again", but just shows that Steve, who was even a voluenteer firefighter if I recall, doesn't sweat the small stuff ^_^ Yeah, when you've sifted through the smoldering wreckage of the World Trade Center at Ground Zero, surrounded by toxic fumes and falling, firey debris, to pull out the charred body parts of your former friends and co-workers and neighbors so their families can have some degree of closure, it tends to put other things in perspective. Ditto for when you've stood up to the greedy, lying politicians on Capital Hill, who'd promised so much to those grieving families but failed on that promise, and demanded that they make good on it, and even gone to jail for those families, the small stuff does indeed seem very insignificant. pitbulllady
