Randall's "stats" listed on the RFU site came from the back of one of the children's activity/coloring books that was published along with the movie, which gave some facts about him, including that he once ate a kid's homework, how fast he could change color, and his weight and length and height standing on all-fours on this rear pair of legs. The length and heights seem about right, although I still tend to think that the weight might be exaggerated a bit, at least based on what I saw in the movie. Randall was actually thin, and you can see his backbone sticking up in several seens, as well as his pelvic bones(both sets), which indicates he's underweight. I have to doubt that he actually weighed nearly 300 pounds, at least at that time. I've seen Komodo Dragons in zoos that weighed around 300 pounds, but those suckers were FAT, with big pot bellies, and Randall had absolutely no body fat to speak of. Here's a somewhat different, and VERY interesting, take on Randall, from the Dec. 2001 newsletter, "Acting For Animators", written by someone named Ed Hooks(don't know who he is, sorry, Ed), in which he compares Sulley's strengths as a character to Randall's. This is the only point in the article in which Randall is mentioned: "Sulley is a green and purple furry Jackie Gleason of a monster, a likable working class kind of guy who takes pride in being the Numero Uno scream collector. It would have been nice if he, like his sidekick Mike, had a romantic aspect. I don't know why the writers opted to make him asexual, but it appears to be a conceptual choice. Sulley is more like a Burt or Ernie Sesame Street character than any of the others in this film. By contrast, his nemesis, Randall Boggs, exudes an oily, if not overt, sexuality, and I think this makes him a slightly stronger character. You can imagine Randall hitting on babes in a bar, but Sulley presumably just goes home at the end of the day and takes a warm bath."Like I said, "interesting", and very different from the usual "sarcastic chameleon monster", "slimy", "evil", "nasty", "mean", and all the other lables that the shallow-minded have afflicted Randall with! pitbulllady Concerning Randall's weight, what about his bone or muscle density? How much would that contribute? I googled that newsletter. Thanks so much for posting about it! I don't know who this guy is either, but I'm willing to look up more information about him if he has a different perspective to add to the monotony of Randall's character descriptions. I think Ed hit the nail on the head with his character interpretations of M.I., which I guess goes to show that it's difficult for both genders not to notice that something special about Randall.

I think Ed hit the nail on the head with his character interpretations of M.I., which I guess goes to show that it's difficult for both genders not to notice that something special about Randall. Those two factors would contibrute a good deal to Randall's weight, since he obviously does have very dense and powerful muscles for his size. Randall is able to do things, physically, such as knock James P. Sullivan halfway across a room, that you wouldn't expect from just looking at him. His bones can't be that dense, though, since his overall frame isn't. Randall is designed to be streamlined and aerodynamic, and dense bone structure would hamper that. Think of animals that have really dense bones, like hogs, for example. Streamlined? Aerodynamic? Even with dense muscle structure, though, there's a lot of muscle that's simply not there anymore. Randall has gotten to the point, physically, where he's run out of any stored body fat and now his body is starting to burn muscle for energy, which is why his backbone, hip bones and ribs are visible in some scenes. I know from having been around and cared for so many different animals, that when those bones become visible in most animals, something is wrong. Either the animal is not gettting enough food, or the right kind of food, or it's sick or stressed. Humans, especially us gals, tend to pack ON weight when stressed, IF we can find time to eat(and believe me, I can find time), but many other animals, and a lot of male humans, tend to do the opposite. Randall probably had rarely found time for a real meal during the last phase of building the Scream Extractor. We know he skipped lunch that day in the movie in order to meet Mike with "the kid" on the Scare Floor during their lunch hour. Being very active and warm-blooded, with no insulating natural cover, he'd have to have a high metabolism just to maintain his body temperature, so he'd quickly burn off calories from any food he did get to eat, especially if he was under a lot of stress. That would mean his muscles weren't as dense as they should have been. Maybe in full weight, in optimal condition, he'd weigh 275 pounds, so I guess that's what that weight stat would have indicated. pitbulllady

I think I heard about that in the movie uhh...Unbreakable I think...that their's a sort of rating for bone density. *folds arms* I'm unsure for Randall's. I mean his bones can't be rock-like hard because he needs to be flexible and moves rather fast...think it's somewhere in the middle like most... ---- Stats were probably taken when he was employed I guess.

Yeah, that last one's probably right, they do take your stats, usually from your driver's license, when you're employed. Thing is, Randall might have HIMSELF exaggerated a bit when asked at the DMV how much he weighed, since it seems that in his world, the heavier you are, the more desirable this is, unlike our skinny-obsessed culture. A small-framed guy is more likely to add a few pounds when asked how much he weighs, just like us ladies tend to leave some off, lol! Since they basically just take your word as to your weight at the DMV, that's what would have been put down on his DL, so that's what his employee records would have, as well. pitbulllady

Then again Randall did usually follow "mass crowds" ^_^ Don't see him walking down the street smelling of wet dog and eating out of the garbage ^_^ .....Then again he probably did his first year here -_-
