Dang, this place got emptied out! I know a couple of members said they were going away, but everyone? I hope everyone got their letters written, at least, before leaving. I know it sounds like I'm beating a dead horse but time IS of the essence, here. The sooner Pixar hears from us, and the more of us they hear from, the greater our chances in having some influence.

Well, I've just finished my last exams and I've been really busy lately so haven't had the time to come on here as much.
As for writing a letter, well as much as I want an MI sequel to show Randall in a positive light (I'm in favour of the whole character arc thing, definitely) I'm not sure if writing letters is going to make much difference. I know Pixar like to hear from their fans but they seem to make their movies for themselves, they make movies that they'd want to watch. So I don't think that some letters, even if there are a fair few of them, will influence their decisions- after all, they've made all of their previous decisions by themselves and they haven't gone far wrong yet.
Plus there's the cost of postage from abroad.
Anyway, I'm happy to leave Randall in the hands of Pixar. After all, they made him in the first place. Sure, they made him seem like, well, not the nicest guy but we all love him for his flaws as well as his positive aspects. Pixar made him perfectly in the original, and so I'm happy to trust them with him in a sequel. And if they muck it up, then on their heads be it.

I'm still around, but have been handling many things at once, coaxing with what's with my net-connection, jobs, and trying to harness my creativity and functions FOR this renewed "rebellion". Of course, I've already finished my letter and am working on some other items as well for it. Regardless, I'm still around.

I'm still around, but have been handling many things at once, coaxing with what's with my net-connection, jobs, and trying to harness my creativity and functions FOR this renewed "rebellion". Of course, I've already finished my letter and am working on some other items as well for it. Regardless, I'm still around. Kinda had me worried there for awhile! Not like you to just disappear. At least I know about net connections, though. We've been having a horrible time; AT&T has been out several times, put in no less than five wireless DSL routers, put a new connection box on the outside of the house, put in a new jack just for the internet...still lousy dial-up-speed connections. Turns out the problem isn't even at the house-it's at the sub-station box a mile down the road. The DSL router coil there is overheating and blocking reception, so they've got to replace it. I'm still going to encourage everyone who wants to do so to write letters, though. Like I said, I'm not that much of an optimist, and I'm not convinced that Pixar will do the right thing where Randall is concerned, if they don't KNOW that there are a lot of his fans out there who don't want to see him hurt, or killed. I'm one of those people who take a pro-active stance, rather than a "wait-and-see" stance. It's been my experience, that anytime I choose to wait-and-see, I WON'T like what I wind up seeing. If Pixar does choose to ignore us, or brush us off, then we know that they're liars. I for one am not simply going to be all "gah-gah" over them just because they're Pixar. Those guys and gals-pardon the imagery-have to wake up each morning and head for the bathroom just like I do! AND, they depend on keeping fans happy, since if enough fans aren't happy, they're out of a job. I know that the makers of the assinine Snakes On a Plane were heavily influenced by fan talk and discussion and input, and if THEY can pay attention to fans and give them what they want, why can't Pixar? pitbulllady

Haven't really disappeared (though nice to see that concern post from way back heh)... Really? 0_0 Mine just seems to be something down at the communications center for me (and in essence, NOT our fault)
Ugh that film is just so bland -_-

I've been lurking this last week. It's been mildly busy for me. Mostly hanging out with friends and job hunting.
I'm working on my letter now. I'm going to try to get it out as soon as I can.
Haha, I had almost forgot about that movie.

What if Randall haters are writing letters too?

What if Randall haters are writing letters too? That's always a possibility, although I think that most of them are secure in thinking he died in the first movie. This is one of the reasons why I was reluctant at first to put anything about this on Pixar Planet; there are several people there who absolutely despise Randall. Most of them, however, aren't very eloquent or articulate when it comes to writing or expressing a particular viewpoint, and not very logical or original, either. Many of us have expressed something that hopefully will appeal to Pixar's collective sense of "we need a good, positive message with this movie"-the theme of forgiveness and second chances, rather than one of revenge. If Pixar really does strive to be original and avoid "jumping the shark", they need to seriously consider two themes that they have not really undertaken so far. MY biggest concern is not the people who hate Randall, but those who are big fans of "villains", who love evil characters and relate to them, but who also enjoy seeing them killed in a perverse sort of way. Those are the ones who will want Randall to be really evil to the core, with no virtue at all, and who will be getting off on his demise. pitbulllady

Yeah I agree. I doubt that they're writing letters. I mean there's no real point to for them.

Most of the Randall-haters don't believe he'll be in the sequel at all, since they are sticking with the Disney tradition of killing off "villains" and starting over with a new one in the sequel. They might hate Randall, but I don't think they're passionate enough about it to write to Pixar and insist that they either don't bring him back, or if they DO, that Pixar better make sure he really gets killed this time around. Randall just isn't a favorite character that they feel strongly about.
