^ Illogical abilities? There ought to be some sort of scientific explanation for his ability to camouflage... just like why leopards and cheetahs have different spots and why different types of butterflies have different-colored wings... I think all three of those might be somewhat related, actually. There is nothing "illogical" about Randall's blending ability. He would, as I've explained, have hundred of thousands of special color cells called "chromataphores" in his skin, which he could turn "off" or "on" at will. Many other animals have these, the most complex belonging to cephalapods-squids, octopi, cuttlefish-many of which have the ability to change color drastically and almost instantaneously. Randall's ability is even more superior, though, because he has a far more advanced brain to maintain memory of colors and patterns, and to know how to control it. It's not technolodgy, it's not illogical-just an example of a very common biological ability possessed by a highly-advanced sapient being. pitbulllady

You have to factor in that those animals that you mentioned don't turn invisible. They just blend in to the point were they seem like a part of the rock, tree, leaf, etc. I don't think it would be possible for any being to blend in at a constant rate from all angles while moving.

I think so. *tries to look up an example* Be back in a sec when I can think of a good example, besides constantly moving TV/computer pixels...

Randall also does not turn invisible. He, too, just blends to the point that you cannot see him because of the similarities in his skin color/patterns to that of this background. If he really did become invisible, like Violet Parr in The Incredibles, for instance, you would not be able to see his eyes or teeth. Those would be impossible to see as well, but since you CAN see them when he opens his eyes or mouth, this means only his skin blends with his background. Randall would have to really concentrate on blending to the extent that he could "shift" to match a rapidly-changing background, as he himself moved, and probably wouldn't be able to keep that up for long, due to the stress it would put on him mentally and physically, but he'd be able to pull it off for a short duration due to a very highly-developed nervous system/sensory system and being able to logically predict how his background would change as he moved from point A to point B. This would require a very high level of perception and intelligence on his part, but then, I don't doubt he's capable of it. pitbulllady

I still stand by my statement that blending in does not make you invisible for more than a few angles. (Think of the leap of faith bridge in Indiana Jone's 3)

Well, here's what I think: Randall doesn't actually have a different camoflauge for every person/monster that sees him. I'm not sure how to explain this. Like, if he was being painted (shudup), and there was a tree behind him and a... giraffe in front of him, his front side would be made to look like the tree. But his backside, however, would be made to look like the giraffe. Same thing with his sides and the top of his head and kind of other angle. Think about it. Take a long, long look at it.

But it doesn't work like that. He would only be invisible from one to two angles.

Why doesn't everyone look at the fight scene between him and Sullivan? I mean in that, Ran is in constant movement. And I do recall that when he taunts Sullivan on the ground, just as he was about to get grabbed, we get a 3-angle view of his left, so we could see some of the front of his face, his side, and his back as he blends. Just adding in my two cents ^_^

Oh distortion....why didn't you say so...^_^ A good example earlier would've been The Predator cloaking abilty. How one is hard to see, like they are invisible, but you do see a sorta "added layer" to what you are seeing, so it's kind of like crystal(the distortion)
