Oh yeah I agree, deformity indeed 0_0
Already? When does this attraction supposedly date from?
And it is kind of an insult to Randall to demote him to the some-what classic 'toony-catch-with-net" thing. I mean there making out Randall to be like the troublesome jerk that always appears in each episode trying to catch Boo and Sullivan and Wazowski are always the heros. Jeez...that's as pale a plot for Randall as it is for Swiper in Dora *cringes*
I was thinking the same thing, though I'd thought that the Japanese ride made him more into a sort of scaly version of Wile E. Coyote, or one of the bumbling villains of so many of the cheap Saturday morning cartoons of the '70's, where the villain was just always this ever-present jerk who was trying to catch the good guy(s), often for no apparent reason(at least Wile E. Coyote wanted to EAT the Roadrunner), using ridiculous means(Acme, anyone?), and of course, always getting defeated, usually by some slap-stick means like being blown up or falling over a 10,000-ft. cliff, only to reappear, uninjured, in the next episode. I know we've discussed that the Japanese apparently are into this sort of thing, but I outgrew this type of cheap humor by the time I was like, 10. Even though this scenario is still better than having Randall actually killed in canon, it's still a cheap shot, big-time. It's sad that Pixar would even agree to that, since it's so different from their "realistic" approach to storytelling.
