Any of you been watching some film awards like the BAFTA's and the Golden Globe's? The Oscar's will be airing soon, but I'll have to see the aftermath . I'm really, really, REALLY reeling for Heath Ledger to win Best Supporting Actor. He did an amazing job as the Joker and the truth is, he can never win an award after this again . He has won in every other award show though, so I'm hoping he'll win this . A film that has seemed to come up top this year is that Slumdog Millionaire. I suppose it looks a good film, so I might go and see it. I've been to see Benjamin Button and that is a great film . That sure deserves the Best Makeup, although I was dissapointed Heath didn't win that aswell as Best Supporting Actor, but then, The Dark Knight didn't have that many BAFTA nominations . Any nominees you reeling for to win?

Ledger won Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes, from what I remember.
I haven't had a chance to see Slumdog Millionaire yet, but it looks good from the clips I've seen. I missed so many big dogs this year (Slumdog, Milk, Frost/Nixon, The Reader, The Wrestler) just because my local theaters didn't show them.
I was very excited from what I heard about Benjamin Button, but very let down when I saw it. It lacked character depth. By the end of the movie, I found myself simply not caring since I had no connections with the central characters.
I'm not really too excited for any of the nominations. I wouldn't mind Robert Downey Jr. getting Best Supporting Actor. Of course, I hope WALL-E bags the best animiation.

Yes, WALL-E does deserve the best animation category. In the BAFTA's, it also got nominated for Best Music, along with The Dark Knight, Slumdog Millionaire... Well, we can all have our different opinians on things .

Pixar always gets best animation if they have a movie to be nominated. I kind of feel sorry for other animations. It's like they don't even have a chance. Oh well, that's the whole point.
With things like film, not everyone will see eye-to-eye. Although I do believe Benjamin Button should get best Makeup. They really did a fabulous job with everything but the story itself.
Oh, and my local theater released Slumdog Millionaire today. I'm going to see it tomorrow. I was originally going to see Coraline, but they pulled it. After only two weeks! Yet they sill keep that idiotic mall cop movie. Needless to say, I've never agreed with them when it came to movie selections.

I don't usually watch the award ceremonies, just find out about them afterwards. The way the award winners are chosen seems to be so political nowadays that it sort of removes the values of the awards in the first place, but I still want WALL-E to do well.

I'm dying to find out the awards... Anyway, it airs this Sunday, so I'll be able to find the stats out Monday afternoon.

I followed the film awards last year to see if Ratatouille would win ^_^ Though the awards are suggestible in terms of giving the award out. Already showed my dislike that they don't give animations the even chance to be Best Film of the year

That's only happened once, I think, and that was with Beauty and The Beast.

Actually to my account of recall I believe that's the only film that came close. Came close. As in it was nominated but didn't win. And so far, no more nominations...

Yes, I believe that animation should have a chance. I heard someone suggest on Reelz today that WALL-E should defiantly be on the Best Film nominations. It's sad how overshadowed animation is in things like this.
Slumdog Millionaire was amazing. I'm rooting for it now. Wonderful movie. I don't know how you couldn't enjoy it. Every moment was thrilling. That means something coming from me. I usually get bored easily.

Oh yes, I did forget to mention that Beauty and The Beast was only a nominee. Thanks for that RandallBoggs.

It was kind of a given that he would. I doubt they would have deny him the last chance to get an Oscar, just out of honor. Not that he didn't do a good job. He's the whole reason Dark Knight was good, in my opinion. I didn't really care for any other aspect of the movie. Of course, I was the same with with Batman movies in the past. I only care for the villains when it comes to Bats.
