Being a native of the Southern United States, I feel it's time to set the record straight-AGAIN-regarding the people in the wretched trailer into which Randall was thrown.
Ahem...
They are NOT "Hillbillies"!
ALL people with a Southern accent are NOT "hillbillies". A "hillbilly" is a person who was born and raised, following many such generations, in the remote Appalachian or Ozark Mountains; that's why they're called HILLbillies-"hill" as in "mountains". Many of the real, honest-to-goodness hillbillies I've encountered in my travels throughout the South actually sound more like natives of the state of Maine, rather than what most folks consider to be a "Southern" accent. That said, the trailer into which Randall was thrown was, at that time, anyway, located in swamp, called a "bayou", in southern Louisiana. The closest thing to a "hill" they have down there are cypress "knees" and Fire Ant mounds. Much of that entire area is below sea level, which is why they had such a horrible time following Hurricane Katrina, and why they're understandably so nervous now, with Hurricane Gustav bearing down. While the "Ma" in the trailer had a generic Hollywood Southern accent, the kid had a definite Louisiana Cajun accent, which is about as far from a "hillbilly" twang as you can get without being from Atlantis or something!
Sorry, but it just bugs the heck outa me that most people think that everyone with a Southern accent is a "hillbilly", when they don't have a clue as to what that term means.

Haha, thanks for clearing that up.
My guy is from South Carolina and doesn't have an accent. His parents have one, his sisters have one, his friends have one, but he doesn't. It's kind of hilarious, in it's own little way. Of course, he pokes fun of my Midwestern accent every now and then.
