Ohhh, what's wrong Ran? Is it too painful to talk about? If so I understand. What exactly happened? If it's too hard though, you don't have to tell me.

I posted a response earlier today, and for some odd reason, it never showed up, so I guess I'll have to delete one or the other if for reason it DOES show up after I've posted this one.
Anyway, most of you know I'm a big fan of "Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends", and especially of the character of Wilt, the tall, red Imaginary Friend who was created to, among other things, play basketball like a pro. Those of you who have watched the show on a casual, once-in-awhile basis probably would think that Wilt, out of all the characters on the show, would have the LEAST in common with Randall, and certainly anyone who hasn't really paid much attention to "Monsters, Inc." would, too. For me, though, Wilt is the character(and not just on Foster's, either)who most reminds me of Randall, and he has come to remind me even more of Randall with recent episodes.
Wilt appears, on the surface, to be Mr. Perfect. He's extremely nice and polite, and VERY helpful, even willing to sacrifice his own comfort for that of someone else. Wilt LIVES to help others, in fact. He seems slow to anger and quick to try and make peace between others when there is a conflict. He's got a lot of common sense and clearly likes to think things through. Wilt is also apologetic to a fault, saying "I'm sorry" even when he hasn't done anything, and is obsessed with following others' rules and staying out of trouble-everything Randall isn't, right?
Wilt has shown, though, that he is much more complex than that, and that he, too, has a "dark side", if you will. For one thing, Wilt DOES have a temper, and it can be set off by seemingly insignificant things, like someone making an innocent joke about tall people(Wilt is eight feet tall, by the way), or someone abandoning or throwing out someone else(Wilt was abandoned by his creator's family, and he hasn't gotten over it), and when he DOES unleash that temper, it's best to stay out of his way! He can go off just like Randall does with Fungus in "M.I." Wilt also has trouble handling pressure when it's directly on HIM, and becomes irritable and snappy after only a short time under such pressure. In one episode, he had to MC an annual pageant/talent show, an important fund raiser for the home, and he's apparently botched the job the year before. Everyone was on his case to practice his lines, shutting him out of fun activities and constantly reminding him of how badly he'd screwed up the year before, and it didn't take long for that friendly, optimistic demeanor to begin to sour. Like Randall, Wilt has also shown himself to be HIGHLY competitive, and once he sets his eye on the prize, anyone or anything that gets in his way becomes The Enemy, even his best friends. He will do whatever it takes to win, and UNLIKE Randall, Wilt is NOT above a bit of cheating to accomplish winning! He has a tendency to show off and flaunt his physical abilities and superiority, too. In the most recent episode, while in competition with his three friends/roommates for sole possession of a single room that had become available, Wilt was showing off his flexibility and athletisism in a manner than was remarkably similar to Randall's display in the locker room scene, to the point that I would not have been a bit surprised if he'd broken out into that "Winds of Change" speech!
Other similarities I've noted are" Both Wilt and Randall are VERY determined once they've set their minds on something. Both are VERY strong, physically, in proportion to their size and seemingly skinny build. Randall had no trouble batting around Sulley, despite the difference in THEIR size, and Wilt can slam-dunk a bowling ball through a hardwood floor! Both are very flexible and athletic, and both can move VERY fast when they need to. Both have that same big grin, and that same angry snarl when things aren't going their way. Both have that smug air about them when they've just proven someone wrong or succeded when everyone assumed they'd fail. Both have displayed an inability to hold up under stress that is directly on THEM, altough I have to give Randall credit here: he held up as well as he did for two YEARS, while Wilt started getting snippy after just a couple of DAYS. Both have displayed remarkable mechanical knowledge; Wilt is really great at fixing automobile engines and what-not, while Randall is more of an inventor. Both have that same chuckle, which can be either good-natured(as in the M.I. "bloopers" scene with Randall in front of that painting)or somewhat sinister. Both have had some very bad experiences in the past, leaving them physically and emotionally scarred, though Wilt's scars are the most obvious. He has had to have an arm amputated and is missing an eye. Both Wilt and Randall have a mysterious past; we KNOW that something has happened to make them the way they are, but we can only guess as to what. Randall's past was never brought up in the movie(at least the part WE get to see), and Wilt abruptly changes the subject anytime HIS is brought up. Wilt appears to have come to terms, though, with his, but the primary difference in how HE behaves and how RANDALL behaves has more to do with their respective age differences than anything else. Randall, as we've learned, was 25 at the time of the movie's events, and a recent episode just revealed that Wilt is 40, so he's had more time to reconcile somewhat with his unpleasant history than Randall had, and to develope a new set of priorities.
I may not be the only one to notice the similarities, either; in one episode(with a title borrowed from one of Steve B.'s movies), there was a scene parodying the Scarers' entrance in M.I., and it was WILT who occupied Randall's spot, with that exact same determined expression! I guess this was one of the reasons I totally fell for Wilt the first time I watched the show, because there was this subliminal resemblence to Randall Boggs, but now that resemblence has become more and more obvious.

For me, believe it or not, will be Bushroot from Darkwing Duck. For those of you who don't know who Bushroot is, Bushroot was once a scientist who was picked on by a bunch of bullies (like Randall). Only the beautiful Rhona protected him and encouraged him. One rainy night, while doing an experiment to stop world hunger, he mixed his own DNA with a plant's DNA which made him into the half-plant, half-duck he is today. But still people do not appreciate him because they consider him as a "freak" since he looks different, but that doesn't change the fact that he was once a normal duck who just wanted to make the world a better place!

Well, there's a DVD out in stores now. If you buy it and watch "Beauty and the Beet" you have to feel really sorry for Bushroot!

Ever see other fictional characters with similarities to Randall? I have two Enrico Maxwell from Hellsing. Why? Because they both have few friends, are ambitious, and they appear to have similer backgrounds. Enrico was orphaned, and that made him the ambitious, arrogant head of the Iscariot organization he is today, something similer probably happened to Randall to make him feel that he needs nobody. Here's a link to a manga scan that gives you a peek at Maxwell's childhood groups.msn.com/ATU-BOTI/hellsingvolume8.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=9822 and here is a picture from the anime. www.geocities.com/enricomaxwell/MAXWELL2.jpg They also have the same lovely green eyes Another is Vegeta from Dragonball Z en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vegeta . Why? Like Randall, Vegeta also had a jealous streak ( "I will surpass Kakarott at any cost!!!"), they are both quite arrogant and proud, they're strong willed and will do anything to meet their goals. All of the mentioned characters are also a bit misunderstood.... So there you have it, that's my comparason. Now let's hear yours. Axel from Org. XIII, mostly because they're both smooth talkers and they both have green eyes. And Smart A** from the Toon Patrol, because they both seem to like threatening people (to a certain extent) and they both naturally have that sorta "sinister" air around them.
