[glow=lime green,2,300][shadow=green,left,300]Mutant[/glow][/shadow] [glow=blue,2,300]A Randall Boggs/Maximum Ride Tale[/glow] Randall'sINTRODUCTIONRandall Boggs opened his eyes and groaned. How could’ve those stupid people mistake him for an alligator? He looked nothing like one! Randall sat up and remembered what had happened to him. That big fat blue fur rug tossed him into a trailer, and some stupid woman beat the heck out of him. He ducked one of her many blows and slithered out the window. Randall then blended in with the background and ran as fast as he could. He ended up in some field and had collapsed on the ground, worn out from exhaustion. Randall rubbed his head and slowly got up, looking around. What in this world am I going to do now?? he thought. He spotted a grassy ledge that had a perfect view of the full moon. He walked up to it and was about to lay back down when he noticed a large body of water, with a city on the shore! He probably could try to get back to Monstropolis through one of these building’s closets. Randall raised his hand up to wipe his forehead, and realized that he was still blended. He unblended, sighed and started downhill.

Jynx‘s INTRODUCTION
J[/b]ynx Blackstreak shifted her position as much as she could in her small dog crate and peered through the cage wiring. The Whitecoats had taken out a mutant, who seemed to be half of a male human, half of some sort of fungus. Now the same Whitecoats came back in. Jynx watched them walk in front of her cage.
“Ugh. A complete failure,” one Whitecoat said. Jynx assumed they were talking about the other mutant. He died.
“Indeed. No matter. It’ll just be burned like the rest of them.”
Jynx scowled. She hated how the Whitecoats called them “It's”. She wasn't an it!
“I want Number 379,” the first one said, tapping her clipboard. Jynx raised her head a little. That was her number! There was a shuffling in the cage next to her, and a young chesnut-haired boy appeared, looking up at her with his big, brown eyes through his cage's wiring. Jynx looked at the first Whitecoat and concentrated.
If they harm this specimen, I’ll kill them, she heard the Whitecoat think.
She gave the boy a thumbs-up sign. He nodded in return. She wasn’t going to be the subject of a dangerous experiment. She was just going to run laps or donate a blood sample. A third Whitecoat turned the latch on her crate and opened the door. Jynx reluctantly crawled out and was grabbed by gloved hands. Freezing hands, I might add. The Whitecoat lifted her onto her feet without much trouble. Even though she was 4’9, she didn’t weigh much less than 65 pounds. He dragged her into a hallway, walked down it a little, and turned into a second hallway. They walked a little more before they came to a door of which Jynx immediately recognized. The door was to the maze room, where she’d be forced to run maze after maze after maze, and if she slowed down her running or ran into a dead end, they’d heat up wires under her feet and burn her until she sped up or got back on track again. The Whitecoat opened the door and pushed her inside.

I knew your character in that one thread rang a bell. Sorry, but I hated that book with a passion. The character's just annoyed me in so many ways. Especially the bad guys.
EDIT: Your doing better at it than the author did.

HEY!! Don't insult James Patterson like that!! I think his books are a piece of Heaven. Besides, I have his writing technique, and Jynx is somewhat like Max- Smart-A character.
Otherwise, thank you.

R[/size]andall had never seen anything so… big. This city was even bigger than Monstropolis. And it, the people, everything, was always moving, was always busy. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry to go somewhere or get something done. And there were stores on every block, selling everything: Shops for shoes, windows and doors, videos, antiques, and a hotdog stand were some of the few things crammed onto the streets of New York. A distinct smell got Randall’s attention. He sniffed the air and looked in the direction the stench was coming from. A Sushi stand was on the other side of the street. Randall’s stomach growled, and he thought about unblending and ordering something to go, but only for a second.
That would be the stupidest thing I’d ever do in my entire life, he thought. 'Then again, trusting Waternoose had been an even worse mistake..' Randall felt rage running through him like a stampede of wild bulls as he remembered what happened after he’d last seen Waternoose. He furiously shook the feeling off and kept on walking. Randall’s stomach growled again, even louder this time. A few people nearly stopped to listen to where the sound was coming from. Randall clenched his teeth. He knew he had to get something to eat and turned around to go to the Sushi stand and steal something, but then he saw the owner hang a closed sign on the cart. Randall frowned and looked around. Something caught his eye: Yu Chang’s Chinese Soup Restaurant. He could get food from there, though going into a crowded space while trying to remain unseen would be difficult. As he walked across the street, dodging both humans and cars, he spotted an alleyway right next to Yu Chang’s. When he reached the sidewalk, he dove into the alley, narrowly missing a fancy-looking lady and her dog. Just he’d suspected: A door on the side of Yu Chang’s building. Probably leading straight to the kitchen. He was about to push the door open when two very handsome, muscular men quickly walked out of the entrance. Randall was about to go inside, but then saw the men stop in the middle of the alley, behind a dumpster, as though they didn’t want anyone to see them. Overcome with both curiosity and suspicion, Randall ducked the closing door and silently slinked over to them.
“… The Boss isn’t going to be pleased,” one man said with the voice of an angel. The other guy nodded.
“If the Director finds out, we’re both toast.”
Director? Randall thought. Were they in some kind of a play or movie? The first guy shifted his position and Randall noticed a package under his arm. He opened his mouth to say something but then paused and pressed two fingers against his ear. Randall leaned to his left and saw that the guy had an earpiece in his ear. The guy nodded, muttered “Alright," nd moved his fingers away from his ear.
“The Boss wants the shock collars right now. Says the child freaks are beginning to create problems. Let’s go.” The two guys raced out onto the street, almost knocking over an old lady.
Child freaks? Children?? Randall looked at the kitchen door and then at where the dudes went. Wait a minute... Children... Kids = Closets, and Closets = Monstropolis! Yes!! he thought as his eyes widened. He ran after them.

Jynx felt like she was going to pass out any second. She’d been running mazes all day, only getting a very short break between each one. The bell rang. A Whitecoat pushed her out onto the current maze’s hot-wired floor. She started running. She came to a fork, and took a left. A dead end. She bit her lip as her feet burned on the wires, and turned around. She ran back to the fork and took a right this time. The wires on the ground cooled and stopped burning her. After a while of turning this way and that, Jynx finally found the exit. As she stepped off the wire, Whitecoats grabbed her and once again led her out into the hallway. She collapsed on the floor near the wall. It wouldn’t be so hard if she knew the way. An idea struck Jynx just then. She focused her mind on the Whitecoats inside the maze room. After a while she found somebody with a clear picture of the next maze in his/her head. First a right, then a left, then another right, then skip the next few turns, then another right, and so on. Another Whitecoat dragged her back into the maze room, and the bell rang. She started running as fast as she could. Her lungs started aching even more, breathing became difficult, and she instinctively knew she had to stop. But she didn’t. After a while, she felt herself growing fainter and fainter, and she unwillingly collapsed. She didn’t care how much she got burned and hurt. She needed to rest. As the stinging wires burned her face, she noticed she was looking through a dark tunnel. Before long, everything just grew dimmer and dimmer until reality itself just went black.

Randall was actually having quite a hard time catching up. Those thugs were fast. Unusually fast, for normal humans. Randall frowned and sort of squinted when he realized that they weren’t all that normal- and when they disappeared into a tower that looked like it was made for renting office space. The men swiftly walked through the revolving doors, but Randall stopped in front of the building. He looked up and read a marble sign: The Institute for Higher Living.
Higher Living? Randall studied the building. Perhaps some humans like to live high..? But wait. That wouldn’t explain why it’s called an insitute… Randall thought. He shrugged and skedaddled inside. Randall spotted the men at a counter, speaking to a young women behind it. Randall moved closer to try to hear their conversation, but it was already over. The woman gave one of the guys something that looked like the flat, rectangular cards at Monsters, Inc. Hmm. Randall followed the thugs down a hallway. He was confused when they stopped at the very end and there was no door. But then Randall realized there was, when one of the guys pulled the rug of off it. There was also a key slot, like the ones Fungus used to get him a door. The first of two guys slid the card in in the slot, and there was a beeping sound. The second guy pulled the door open. They, with Randall tailing close behind, went in and shut the door. There were concrete stairs leading down, and down they went. At the bottom of the stairs was a large carpeted room full of computers. Randall then followed the men through another door. And Randall could not even dream about what was behind that door…

R[/b]andall unblended and gazed around the room, his jaw hanging open. Cages. Cages and cages and cages. They filled the room. Suspiciously they resembled large dog crates. Randall stepped closer to one to get a better view of what was inside one. Randall peered through the metal wiring. He couldn’t quite see what was inside- it was too dark. He was about to turn away when he felt a tingling sensation in his facial breathing passages. He paused and sneezed. Randall then made a bitter face started to follow the men, whom already went through a door, but then heard something moving inside the cage he had been checking out. He once again moved closer to the crate and looked inside. He could see a shadow moving- he must have woken it up. He still couldn’t see it quite clearly. The shadow moved some more and Randall tilted his head. He could make out a head, a head smaller than his… The thing had legs, four of them… Wait, no, two of them. The other pair of ‘legs’ he saw were arms. The creature shifted his position again, and Randall noticed that it had no tail… The shadow moved closer to the front of the cage. Randall’s eyes widened.
A human. A perfectly normal, though dirty, human boy… he thought. The child gripped his cage’s wiring with his hands and gazed at Randall curiously. He seemed to be asking Randall to let him out. Without thinking, Randall grabbed the cage’s lock and was about to break it when he heard a voice behind him, which startled him into putting a hand to his heart.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” a sweet little-girl voice said. Randall whirled around. A little girl with dirty blonde hair was watching him anxiously. She was also in a cage.
“What?”
“You should never do that while the Whitecoats are near. They might get angry and put you back in your cell.”
Whitecoats?
“So what?” the boy chimed in. Randall glanced at him. “We won’t get punished, it will.“ he continued. The boy smiled, showing his teeth. His razor-sharp yellowed teeth. Randall made a noise that sounded like it was between a gasp and a squeak. What was going on? Who were these kids, and why were they in cages? He started backing away from the boy. He faced the girl again when she started to speak.
“Don’t worry. He doesn’t do any harm.” She squinted at Randall. “Do you speak English very well?”
“Uh…”
“I’ll take that as a no.” She shivered. “I’m cold.” She moved something that was attached to her back- Two things, actually- and wrapped them around her front. Randall looked at the things and realized they were wings. He started backing away again. He was about to blend when the girl suddenly pointed at something behind him. Before he could see what it was, a huge net covered him. He looked at who held the net out of the corner of his eye. A guy in a white coat… Wait a minute. A white coat. A Whitecoat. Randall quickly glanced at the girl, then back at the scientist.
“Gotcha,” the Whitecoat said.
