All right, here is my first fanfic that isn't Monsters Inc. related. It's about a pup who lives in a world where dogs and cats can do stuff just like humans. Then he gets a package and...well just read it!
Ch 1. The first package
My name is Shift. Just Shift and nothing more. I was born and bred in an alleyway and never knew a real family. I wandered around until I was caught and taken to the bad place.
The pound.
But I won’t tell you anything about that. Lets get to the part where I escaped and now live in this boarding house my foster mom runs. It all started one winters day when I went to get the mail.
That was one of my chores in this house, getting the mail for the
other dogs. I dragged a bag to the mailboxes, opened it up and
dumped the mail in. There was a small scratching sound inside. I
paused and listened. Yup, it came in the bag. Shuffling through
the mail, I took out the box and stared at it. It was wiggling and
jiggling. I stared at the address.
I blinked. Where did I saw that name before? The box began to
wiggle violently. I grabbed the mail with my jaw and pushed the
box to the house with my head. In the house, I hung the mail bag
on the hook and carefully clamped the corner of the box with my
jaws. It was a lot heavier than it looked. Dragging it up the
stairs, I prayed silently that nobody will notice. Almost there,
almost there...
“Hey!”
I froze and opened my jaws. The box tumbled down the stairs.
When it crashed to the bottom, I heard someone screaming insults
and other dirty things. I looked behind me. Josh, the German
Shepherd, stood near the door of his room.
“What was that?” He asked.
I gulped and raced down to the stairs. Bringing it back, I looked
up at him.
“Um...something somebody sent me.”
Josh grinned. “Whatever it is, it’s alive.”
I gulped.
“Shift!” Jenny, my foster mom, called up. “Didn’t you remember
today was your first day of dog school?”
“Coming!” I called down.
Josh winked. “Hope I get to see it later.”
I was tempted to say, “No way Jose!” or something like that, but it
would have been rude. Climbing up the stairs, I went into my
bedroom which used to be the attic. I wasn’t worried about Jenny
coming in since she’s always cleaning a few rooms and refuse to
clean another one when I’m “perfectly capable of cleaning it
himself”. My room had a little window on one wall and a tiny
bathroom in the other. In other words, my room is pretty big.
Going over to the dresser, I got a tin box and fished through it.
The box contained, a letter from my pen pal from Taiwan, a pencil
borrowed from a little dachsund named Daisy and never returned
it (I was only 5 in human years back then and had a crush on her
so don’t ask!), and the letter. I took it and read it.
F5 stand for “Fearsome Five”. They are a group of villains from
the Darkwing Duck TV shows who joined up and commit crimes
and all. They are really cool and the best! The box started to
wiggle violently. Going over to the box I stared at it. Gulping, I
ripped the tape open. Suddenly, the box burst open and black
smoke exploded out.
“I am the more terrible terror of the night!” A voice suddenly
shouted. I fell to the floor, blinking with curiosity. Where had I
heard that voice before?
“I am the black bat the sinks the fangs into your neck!”
Out jumped a duck dressed in yellow with a black mask.
“I am Negaduck!”
