Hey, I can actually sing the national anthem! In both French and English, all the verses, quite decently. We used to sing it every morning through elementary school, and we still sing it at many school assemblies and at all military functions (plus ceremonies for Canada Day or Remembrance Day), plus choir, as a sort of warm-up... So it's not like I haven't had practice. ^_^ I actually rather like the French lyrics better (the English ones were written like fifty years after the French ones, and are completely different).

really cool! thats awsome! i've heard it in english before but never french! P.S. I live near Canada! in fact i live in MI ^^ Le gasp! What do you mean, you've never heard it in French? What part of Canada do you live in? We had it memorized by third grade in Ontario (I now live in Alberta, BTW), because of all the Francophones living there. That's not to say that I actually knew what it meant back then, just that I knew how to say the lyrics. "Oh, Canada... La terre de nos aillieux... Ton front est scient, de fleurons glorieux. Car ton bras et corps et epeilleux, da da da da da da da...." I actually know that that's probably not the correct lyrics, but if you pronounce them the French way, it sounds like it. It's talking about how Canada is the land of our ansestors and that the country's ... uh... appearance? is very sacred(?) and covered in glorious flowers. I really have to go read a copy of the text - I'll probably understand it now. Now, I know that the American national anthem is the Star Spangled Banner, but I'm uncertain of the British one. Is it "God Save the Queen" or is that an old one like our old "Maple Leaf Forever"? (You know what's the coolest national anthem, though? France's La Marseillaise. It sounds really cool in French, but the lyrics are really bloody. It was written during the French Revolution. To read it's lyrics (both in French and English), go here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Marseillaise You'll see what I mean. ^_^
