I don't think ANYBODY expected it to be this bad. We knew from experience, from recent hurricanes in Florida and the Carolinas, that it would be rough, but no one was remotely prepared for anything like this. No hurricane this large in overral size has hit the US before. The biggest problems are in what's left of New Orleans, which actually missed the worst of the winds, but then the levees broke, allowing Lake Pontchartrain to drain into the city. It is the flooding that has cost the most in lives and property in New Orleans, moreso than wind, and the flooding came AFTER the hurricane had already passed through.

What really angers me is that the always brilliant Bush has finally admitted that the people affected by all of this would've got more help with evacuation and survival if most of America's troops weren't way over in Iraq. Obviously starting a war is more important than saving his own people.

Just think of how the troops from Louisiana and New Orleans feel about the situation. How can they fight a war with the thought of their home destoryed, and NOT by the enemy.

I feel sorry for those troops that have been previously stuck in Iraq when I'm sure that they'd much rather be in New Orleans helping out.

"They misunderestimated me."
"I'm looking forward to a good night's sleep on the soil of a friend."
"Families is where our nation finds hope, where wings take dream."
"I know how hard it is for you to put food on your family."
"Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning?"
