Heh. This fic I wrote really began as Boo centric but Randall became VERY IMPORTANT later on. Yes, another "Boo is a teenager and forgets about Sulley and Mike". But hopefully you'll like it! It does feature your favourite lizard- I PROMISE. Plus hopefully its a little different to what you've usually read on M.I ff.net And guess what... Boo is not abused in it!! LOL. That idea never sat well with me- she seemed such a happy kid, never struck me as showing signs of abuse XD. Please comment on the fic, or here if you want on what you think of it! Yes, Randall is kind of an ass in it, but hey, that's why we love him yeah? Here's the link anyway. www.fanfiction.net/s/3558799/1/ConnectionsIt still needs things cleaning up in some chapters, and it's not finished yet. About the longest fanfic I've ever written so far- and its STILL not finished.

Have been peeking at it so far heh... Not sure what you mean by Boo being abused ^_^; Guess it's how many writers thinks she was or something but heh ^_^ Careful thinking on Randall that way, the guy's not too keen on that ^_^;

Not sure what you mean by Boo being abused ^_^; Guess it's how many writers thinks she was or something but heh ^_^ Careful thinking on Randall that way, the guy's not too keen on that ^_^; What she means is that most fanfic writers who write stories featuring a teenage Boo(years after the movie, of course), always want to insist that Boo is this emo or Goth chick was was abused by her parents/guardians and deprived of basic childhood needs. Clearly, from the looks of her room in the movie, that wasn't the case. I find Mentalguru's fanfic, "Connections", so refreshing because Boo ISN"T like that at all, but is a well-rounded, basically-happy and intelligent kid who has all the same interests most teens have, but who also happens to secretly spend her free time helping lost/banished/abandoned monsters who've found themselves in the Human World. The two-year-old Boo of the movie was a very bright and creative child, so naturally she'd grow into a bright and creative teen/young lady. pitbulllady

Interesting extrapolation of how the Monster and Human worlds develop after the movie. The secret of child harmlessness leaks out (three can keep a secret, if two are dead) and at least some monsters want to see the human world, just as some humans go in for bungee jumping. Now they are being noticed here. Good take.

One quibble...I don't think Boo was two years old when she met Sully, Mike and Randall. She signed her name on one of her pictures, and she drew Randall and Sully better than I could. But I like your view of Sully...seeing the incident from his POV. People on this board seem to think that Sully was EVIL, but seeing him as a terrified father figure, and then gnawed by remorse, puts a different light on the subject.

Boo IS supposed to have been two when she met Sulley, and her language developement, size and behavior(especially that tantrum over the teddy bear) back that up. My niece could draw quite well AND print her name, which was longer than "Mary", when she was two, yet still had trouble with sentences and would often resort to "baby talk". I could also draw and write simple words when I was two, and not only that, but I would draw things like dragons, rather than just simply things I'd seen. It's not unheard of for a child to develope some skills before others. pitbulllady

Wow. Well, then she might have been two, I guess. Any idea how old the real Mary was when she starred in the movie?

Yeah, to tell you the truth I thought she was two myself becasue my cousin's son (he's just about 3 now) was sort of like a male version of her (lol). I think the real Mary was a little older, but the character was 2. I don't know. *shrugs*
As for your words about Sulley- thanks! I was hoping my 'bailing out' of Sulley would do justice. Yeah I believe there is good in everyone as well as evil.
The most difficult thing about this story is trying to be objective however. For instance I don't really like that eyeball...
Somehow I don't think I'll be able to bail out Mike...
Meh. Probably doesn't deserve to be.

Wow. Well, then she might have been two, I guess. Any idea how old the real Mary was when she starred in the movie? She was three when they began taping her voice, and four when it finished up. They picked her because she was already on the set a lot, since her father was one of the people working on the movie, and because her voice sounded right. The director gave up on trying to get her to say specific lines, though; he just got a sound guy to follow her around the studio with a recorder as she played and ran around! I have to wonder if this little girl wasn't "developementally delayed", though, since every normal four-year-old I've ever met(which is a lot, since I've taught kindergarteners that age, and my niece is now four)can carry on quite a conversation, but just a year before, most struggle with complete sentences(sorta like my 8th-graders do now). pitbulllady

Mike is less sympathetic than Sully. Catch the scene where Sully's mother calls Sully after he appears in the commercial. Sully was trying to console Mike for being "blanked out" of the commercial, a nice thing, but Mike hogs the phone conversation like he was the star. To Sully's mother. BTW, if Mary was 2 in 2001 and she is now old enough to be in a monster saving organization, this must be occurring well into the next decade, right?

Mentalguru's story, "Connections", is supposed to take place 15 years after the movie's ending, and Boo/Mary is supposed to be 17 in the story. She herself seems to have more or less founded this "organization", in between school and other things that she's got going on, and it's very obvious from the story that she is NOT the typical 17-year-old girl, or at least, not the typical "Teenage Boo' that's often portrayed in many fanfics. pitbulllady
