*Randall blushes*
Heh heh...^_^
Those people are TOOOO much into reality. I think the SpongeBob scene when Sponge Bob tries to break Ms. Puff out of jail is a good example.
They go to their job, sit and wait on the highway....
Their jerks. Reality sucks. Being with animated characters and "so-called not real" people isn't something wrong. Take singers for instance. You love their voice, but when you meet them, they may be jerks.
....... I'm trying to make a point not sure if it's working...
Simply their wrong....

No, I think it's working...I get what you're saying...I think the bottom line is really: Reality sucks! Yes. That is too often too true.

It's very true what you say about singers, Sean, and also actors/actresses, sports celebs, etc. Most of them build up this "alternate persona" which is very different from who they really are, and it's this alternate persona that the adoring public sees. In effect, they aren't "real", either. The real things are often a bunch of mindless jerks, like you say.
I don't know why so many people even find the notion of a work of art being an object of desire(and yes, animation is very much an art). Anyone ever heard of "Pygmalion"? It's an ancient Greek play, written nearly 5,000 years ago, about a sculptor who gets fed up with trying to find the perfect mate among the female population, so he decides to sculpt his idea of the perfect woman. The gods take pity on him, and bring her to life, and craziness ensues! This was actually the basis for the '80's comedy, "Real Science", in which two nerds use a computer program to create THEIR fantasy female and bring her to life. Like I said, the concept has been around for a long, long time. And it's NOT a male phenomenon, like I said, since if you go to Deviantart.com, MOST of the fan art is by female artists, as are most of the fanfictions devoted to attractive male characters.

Yeah, I know about Pygmalion...never saw "Real Science," though. Sounds very interesting. I've heard of certain celebs being complete and total @$$holes in real life, especially to their fans. I heard from someone that Christina Aguilera had apparently insisted that shades be pulled down over her limo windows so she wouldn't have to look at the crowds of fans outside. It's one thing for celebs to want privacy just like everyone else....but when you're driving somewhere in your limo and your adoring fans have gathered to celebrate you...that's just rude. XP

Yeah, and the longer they're a celeb, it seems, the bigger their egos get and the more rude and selfish they get. It's disgusting. I mean, I've "been there and done that". When I was, like, 14 I had nievely fallen prey to that "popular" section of becoming a boy band groupie. So, I know the HUGE difference between being a pop singer's fan and being an animated character's fan. It's horrible being a pop star groupie - frankly, they couldn't care less about the people who buy their stuff and make them rich snobs. I'd take animated male characters anyday. They are just the same as they are on the screen and quite a few are much more morally-grounded than a huge percentage of any "real actors/actresses". Because well, with animated characters, what you see on the screen is who they really are. And they're tangible. You have the freedom to use your imagination and create new adventures for them as though they had actually happened, relations, family sometimes, and (best of all) pairings! Lol. And all kinds of stuff like that. It's just more fun and rewarding to love animated characters.
