That sounds like an amazing experience! You know, I'm not suprised at the fact that Cars is probably Pixar's best movie so far- it seems that they have a habit of just getting better and better. Also, the absence of a villain is actually quite pleasing. They say you can only go so far without a villain in a story, but, in my opinion, you can only go so far WITH one!

Also, the absence of a villain is actually quite pleasing. They say you can only go so far without a villain in a story, but, in my opinion, you can only go so far WITH one! I second THAT! Cars does very well without a villain, although truth be told, the lead character, Lightning McQueen, comes rather close to being one at first, in terms of his unpleasant and overly-competitive attitude. To me, it is so much better to see a lead character who has some major issues, be able to resolve those issues and undergo a change for the better, than to see someone we're supposed to believe is a Goody Two-Shoes(or Four-Wheels, as it were)beat up on someone we're also supposed to believe is Unreedemable Evil. The messages that this movie sends-that the past is important to us all, and that people CAN change for the better, is very refreshing. Not since Lilo and Stitch have I seen such a great, and believable, character arc in an animated film. pitbulllady

Pixar does put in clues as to their next movie, which will be "Ratatouille", but at times they can be hard to catch. That's one of the reason why you have to watch a Pixar movie more than one. We DID catch some references to past movies, though, and to "short" films, like the Jack-a-Lope from "Boundin'" on the back of an RV, and the birds from "For the Birds" on a wire along the highway. Someone said they spotted the Pizza Planet truck AND the Incredimobile in the parking lot at the race track, but I missed it. The only "Monsters, Inc." reference was an intentional spoof, "Monster Trucks, Inc.", near the end, with car versions of Mike, Sulley and the Yeti, since they were parodying all of John Ratzenberger's roles.
