Another random question (I'm a biology student, I wonder about such things). Do you think humans and monsters are closely related enough to be cross fertile? Probably. If the sizes and body shapes were similar enough for copulation to take place. What would be more interesting would be how a human and a monster would get to know each other well enough to want a child together. That would be the real barrier in making a hybrid.

I'd think so, yeah. We actually discussed this topic way back on the old board, too. All monsters have to carry loads of recessive genes for human characteristics, which means the F1 offspring would look mostly human, probably enough to superficially pass as a human, anyway. We already know that there are many human females who are certainly attracted to Randall to...shall I quote Buddy Pine here, "get BIZ-ZAY". It's also interesting to note that many male lizards in our world respond to female HUMAN pheremones just as they do to a female lizard's. This is one of the reasons why most male iguanas end up being dumped at animal shelters, unless they have been "fixed"; they tend to think of a female human as a potential mate, and male humans as rivals to be attacked! It's probable that once he gets over the initial fear of humans and accepts that they are, in fact, equals, Randall would not have such a tough time finding human females mutually attractive, either. He is, after all, MALE, and I for one cannot see him as this "asexual" thing, devoid of the same urges that male humans experience, and in OUR world, human females would be the closest thing to his own kind, biologically and genetically.

.... Well....I've known Randall for about 3 years now....and I don't think a serious relationship would ever work out.... No. Not saying that Randall and uhh...."someone" would be able to have a relationship....I guess it just wouldn't suit well to the rest of the world....

THAT would be the only problem-how the rest of the world would view it. But, keep in mind that 20 years ago, in this very country, in many places it would still have been an actual CRIME for a Black person to marry or have a relationship with a White person, so things do change. There are places, like Hawaii, probably parts of California, and my poor southern Louisiana, especially New Orleans, where no one would even question such a relationship between Randall and a human, none whatsoever. Randall needs to still grow up a bit, based on his behavior in the movie, but experiences like what he's been through can add years of maturity once he comes to terms with them, and I see absolutely no reason why he would NOT be capable of a loving, forever relationship with someone. To suggest otherwise would be to suggest that something is "not right" with HIM-that he is incaple of showing deep, lasting love or commitment. To the contrary, I would figure that Randall would be MORE likely to commit to a life-long, stable relationship than many guys would, and would be almost desparate to cling to someone that he felt actually cared for him.

Well...yeah... Randall grew up fast. When he was an adult, and wasn't being HEAVILY abused for his race, he retracted to doing at least a few childish things, just to know what it would have been like.
Well...Randall doesn't really know who to trust nowadays. He trusts me, sure. You guys too. But he still knows that even a relationship would be MORE of a commitment for him in our world. Yes, he would want a relationship. But finding the right person and right...well..."place" is the problem... So far he hasn't told me he's interested in anybody. I bug him for it though ^_^

In a way, I think the way Randall would cling onto the other person for their love might scare them away if they're not used to someone who really has had a troubled past. But, then again, I guess they wouldn't really be caring about him if they just abandoned him when things got serious.

Yeah, it probably would, but that would depend on that person, too. It would definately take someone very strong and very stable, emotionally, to be able to deal with Randall's emotional "baggage", and if they had a lot of such "baggage" themselves, they couldn't deal with both. As much as I'm fond of him, I am not even sure I could deal with him even as just a close friend on a day-to-day basis, due to my own problems. I can imagine that on the day I'd come home from a horrible day at school, after car trouble, and finding one of my dogs hurt, THAT would be the day that Randall would be the most "clingy" and "needy", and a bad situation would simply go from bad to horrible.

*high fives Randall* Until Marriage! ;D BUT - It monsters do have reproductive organs, why don't they wear clothes? Celia and Waternoose and Roz were the only ones I destinctly remember dressed. I assume in a place like Monstropolis one wouldn't be wandering around, having his or her bum for everyone to see. Or are all the monsters nudists? Anyways, I agree with Lizzie and PitbullLady, as usual:P. I'd like to point out, though, that either Randall would become incredibly clingy, needy and possessive or become withdrawn, private and incapable of opening up to a relationship from trauma. Perhaps, after what Waternoose did, (not to mention a few smacks to the head) he would be unable to fully trust someone other than himself.

Can you honestly tell me you can look at a snake and tell its gender from a glance? Even an expert like myself has to pick the thing up and has to know exactly what to look for. Most animals do not have their genitalia on the outside, like us humans do, not the males, anyway. They are tucked away nice and safe inside the abdomenal cavity, except when in actual use. The more active the animal, in most cases, the less visable its...shall we say, "equipment" is! I'd assume that many male monsters, like male snakes, dolphins, seals, ducks, etc., have no need of clothing to cover such parts because they're already kept out of view. Hey, if you gotta fine tool, you gotta keep it in a shed, no? Many female monsters, though, as you pointed out, DO have something they need to keep covered up for modesty's safe at least. pitbulllady

Waternoose doesn't wear pants, just that coat and vest. Have to keep up appearances when you're a rich corporate b*****d, you know.
Male snakes have a proportionately longer tail than females, and their tails have a distinctive bulge at the base, because that's where their reproductive organs are. Females' tails taper much more abruptly from the base. Again, to the average person, though, it would appear impossible to tell the difference, and most people aren't even aware that snakes mate just like most vertebrates do. Male snakes and lizards actually have TWO uhm, organs, rather than just one.
