I GOT INSULTED ON YOUTUBE!!!!
I made a comment in Randall's defense, and BOY... those Randall-haters started swarming in the forums like locusts, calling me a huge troll. That everything I was saying was a lie, that I'm making DISNEY out to be a liar, over a film THEY made.
One poster even had the AUDACITY to impersonate Boo, saying 'NOOO! THAT RANDALL TRIED TO KILL ME!', and I replied 'You're not Boo... don't make me laugh.', then that poster called me an asshole! I was rejected, and even TALKED DOWN to, like I was some disobedient child or something. They went through how 'Randall tried to kill both Sulley and Boo', and 'what I say is not true'. Just like Randall, I was humiliated! So, I ended it by saying 'If my observations and beliefs make you that miserable, than this is the parting of the ways.'. I also mentioned 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' for good measure.
Need some support, Pitbulllady!

Defending Randall on the internet is definitely gonna bring out the haters in mass. Heck, we even had one HERE not long ago, who believes that Randall is evil incarnate, always was and always will be. The bad thing about these people, for the most part, is that they believe that THEY are perfect, and incapable of doing anything wrong, of making mistakes, or falling under the influence of someone like Waternoose. They believe that they are too good and too smart for that, and wallow in their own self-righteousness while pointing fingers at everyone else. They still live in a child's mind-set, where everything is either Good or Evil, no in between, no moving back and forth, no "gray areas". That is how very young children think, and it's disturbing when alleged adults do not progress beyond that. pitbulllady

Thanks, Pitbulllady.
You're right, of course. Those responders ARE self-righteous, and VERY immature. I certainly picked THAT up. It's also extremely terrible that there are a LOT of people out there who (yes, because they think they're perfect) don't seem to remotely grasp the concept that we are ALL in need of forgiveness and second chances at some point in our lives. That none of us are perfect, and that truthfully, there IS no progress in life without unconditional love... also known as 'Agape' love. We're ALL going to make mistakes...
One of the great things about what George Lucas showed us in 'Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith', is how two people - not unlike Sulley and Randall - CAN be fighting against each other (Anakin and Dooku), then in 'Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi' (Anakin and Luke), and yet, the TRUE evil is the guy sitting in the chair, seemingly doing nothing... except spouting off the orders: Palpatine.
If only those oh-so-perfect Jedi had had enough SENSE in their temple on Coruscant to take a break from detatching themselves from people and the rest of the galaxy, and honing their Force skills, and taught a few practical courses or sessions about 'SITH AND COMMON SENSE 101: Manipulation and How It Works', like in the Room of a Thousand Fountains for late afternoons... Palpatine might never have been able to pull off all his outrageous little shenanigans! Huh?
LOL!
Just like Palpatine, Waternoose had fanned the flames of Sulley and Randall's rivalry, I wouldn't have put it past Waternoose to trick Sulley into killing Randall FOR him... if he had gotten such a chance. Dooku thought his master supported him, but then... Palpatine says "GOOD, ANAKIN! GOOD! Kill him.... Kill him now.". I think Waternoose works the EXACT same way... that's how he can make himself look like 'Mr. Nice Guy' so much. Remember the simulation test scene? Sulley was CLEARLY disturbed, and yet Waternoose just kept goading him, saying "What are you waiting for? ROAR! ROAR!" and THAT'S how Sulley ended up inadvertently frightening Boo.

Holy Mackerel.....
...you know that 'Randall Roast' on that YouTube video "You did it, Boo. You beat him"? Well... I just got put down by an OUTRAGEOUSLY haughty poster, who is EXACTLY like Patrick Kloster, from "Mr. Monk and the Genius".
The person said to me:
"Dude. You have to be level-headed about being a fan of a Disney Villain. For example, when your child does something wrong, you do not let them off scotch free every single time. Don't become some sentimental grandfather that says 'Oh, he's just a misunderstood little chap. He'll learn one day. He just needs forgiveness and time to grow.'. What will you do when he plays ball in the house when you tell him not to? Sets matches to the kitchen curtains? Blows the air out of your car tires? Punches his sister? Talks back to you and slams doors? Stand by and tell him how much more love he needs in his life? You have to discipline the child for the wrong that he's done. Even if he is a sweet little angel. If he sticks the cat in the washing machine, you punish him. You don't show that you encourage that kind of behavior.", THEN... she had the AUDACITY to play the sick counselor and say "Believe me, I'm in a similar situation with another Disney villain I'm a fan of, except it's with The Lion King. I happen to be a Scar fan, but that does not mean I encourage anything he did and support lying, fratricide, and domestic abuse. You have to be LEVEL-HEADED about when you're a fan of any movie villain, because you are in a tricky situation. Yes, I do believe that Scar had a hard life and a bad childhood, and I do find his character fascinating as well, but I hold myself to be RESPONSIBLE about my reasonings. 'Fancy logic' does not change the truth, Christopher. I have met several hard-core Scar fans like myself, who are far more responsible in their reasonings than you, and they say that they don't support any of the crimes that he did. Yes, you heard me right, CRIMES. They acknowledge the fact that what Scar did was wrong. You, however, do not with Randall. But anyway, like everyone else, I'm not going to talk about this anymore. Please think very carefully about how you interpret the world."
I gave that guy a piece of my mind, needless to say. I can only imagine what YOU, Pitbulllady, would say to that! Honestly... I feel EXACTLY like Adrian Monk, as if I've just endured some of that pull-back, status quo, flippant talk that Monk constantly hears from others, yet never abides by when he's solving a murder case. No matter, of course.... this isn't over.

UHHH.... classic.
Hey, Pitbulllady! You know that stupid ride in Japan that shows Randall being crushed to death and all? Some user on YouTube commented on my response and had to go blaming my being offended on 'society'. He's been cussing at me, and get this: He actually thought I singlehandedly DEDICATED this forum to what he calls 'a ridiculous cause'! Like I was the creator of the forum.
Seriously, he just put that right now. He said: "A forum? A forum?!? You dedicated an entire forum to this ridiculous 'cause'?".
Anyway, Pitbulllady... on a happier note, guess what? I've been enrolled in college!!! My classes are supposed to start in the summer - even before the Fall freshman year. I'm so excited!

Well, at least the last part is good news! I have a pretty good idea who the attacker is, though, and it's someone who used to be on this forum and left because of their belief that Randall is, and always was, evil, and was simply hiding it in MU. This individual LIKES evil, and thinks that anyone who would dare to claim that Randall wasn't the spawn of Satan from the get-go is nuts. They have made comments on Tumblr about your defending Randall and using this forum simply for that purpose, actually. This individual has several Tumblr blogs devoted to RP'ing Randall as a mean, hateful, perpetually angry character who secretly lusts after Sulley; I am not making that up.

The fight goes on...
Some OTHER user on YouTube responded to my comment. This guy went on another 'Randall is guilty of assisting Waternoose in kidnapping/torturing children' speech, and Mike and Sulley's banishment of Randall is the equivalent to 'LIFE' imprisonment. (Yeah, the guy had to put the word in caps, too.)

I'm curious: what happened to Randall's public perception after MU came out? Did anybody see any changes? I still haven't watched MU, but it looks like Randy is a nice guy there.

Well... randylizard, it's difficult.
Since you haven't seen 'Monsters University', I will tell you that Randall is very nice to Mike Wazowski. Changes? Since this is the prequel to 'Monsters, Inc.', that makes 'Monsters University' Film #1, and 'Monsters Inc.' Film #2. Randall's character traits in this film are usually described as 'sweet', 'shy', or 'insecure'. When Mike first meets Randall, he shakes his hand and tells him he's his roommate, and that he, too, is a Scaring Major. Two profound statements are made:
#1. Mike says to himself, before opening the door to his dormitory "Your lifelong friend is right behind this door.". He opens it, and for a brief moment the light from the white curtained window masks his color and face. Scientifically, this is because his body is blocking the light, and whenever someone does that, they appear dark. Since he's reptilian, of sorts, a horn plays a few dramatic notes, showing a twinge of apprehension in Mike - but Randall greets him eagerly with a warm and friendly smile, letting us know that he is NOT dangerous.
#2. In the same scene, Randall says with a smile "I can tell we're gonna be best chums, Mike." What Randall wants more than anything in the world is to make friends and be accepted. Eventually, Mike and Randall end up joining different (and unfortunately, opposing) fraternities. One is called "Roar Omega Roar", the other is called "Oozma Kappa".
We meet the PRESIDENT of ROAR OMEGA ROAR, and his name is Johnny Worthington III. He attempts to get Sulley to join Roar Omega Roar, but eventually falls out of favor with Johnny. He really isn't kind to anyone - not even his own fraternity brothers. Johnny is first and foremost an egotist and a bully.
There's also a scene near the end of the second third of the film where Randall is shown participating in a prank orchestrated by Johnny: The other fraternity members douse the Oozma Kappas in various colored paints, the Randall releases various stuffed animals onto them. I will add that none of the members are harmed physically here - they're just given a humiliating treatment. Then, a snapshot is taken, which is then publiced in the newspaper and displayed around campus with the headline 'Cute-ma Kappa'.
Now, to separate FACT from FICTION: Randall does NOT run Roar Omega Roar. JOHNNY does. He's the PRESIDENT of the fraternity, and he actively challenges/belittles anyone that tries to stand up to him. Randall clearly did NOT orchestrate that prank, and he makes NO verbal comment on the prank afterwards, nor does he makes ANY attempt to hurt/humiliate Mike or Sulley. It's very clear that Randall didn't have a choice. If you look to the sidelines in some of the scenes where Johnny is speaking, Randall keeps a straight face. He knows he can't speak up even when his "best chum" is in trouble.
Lastly, in the final Scare Games Task, which (if you've seen Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) is strikingly similar to the Third Task of the Triwizard Tournament. Sulley and Randall have to go into a private simulator to win scare points. Unfortunately, Sulley's roar is loud enough that the sound wave vibrations cause Randall to fall off the wall-ceiling, and he lands on a pink rug with dark pink hearts, making his body assume that pattern. In truth, Randall DOESN'T look bad in this fashion (I even think it speaks metaphorically of Randall's true inner beauty), but when he walks out, Johnny Worthington and the other ROR fraternity members OPENLY ridicule Randall, virtually in front of hundreds of spectators, and they all laugh naievely, not knowing or caring what's actually happening. Once Randall notices that Sulley did well, he manages to return his body to normal purple, then he says angrily "That's the last time I lose to you, Sullivan."
NOW... public perception? Unfortunately, there are gobs of people that STILL think Randall is evil. They view his joing ROR as him 'being a social climber who ditched Mike for cool and popular kids', and they also think that Randall just 'TURNED' evil... like off the drop of a coin, once he loses to Sullivan there in that final task. I simply don't buy that notion... it doesn't add up.
Once you've seen the first film, then rewatch 'Monsters, Inc' (which is now Film #2), you'll notice several REAL changes in Randall's journey. It will also (hopefully) broaden your perspective a little when you see him in 'Monsters, Inc.'. Many people may have been surprised by Randall being nice in 'Monsters University', but I truly wasn't surprised one bit. The movie only confirmed what I already suspected to be true... Randall is good at heart.
