Oh, God...WHY? I mean, I really liked the original, because it has a good message, had no villain, featured a decent heel-face turn by a main character, had some nice touches of lost Americana that most people weren't aware of, and of course, there was NASCAR. But then, "Cars 2" was just plain silly and made no sense at all. The main character got "Arthur Fonzirelli'd" by Mater, you had that whole James Bond thing going on, with a NASCAR race car competing in an international grande prix race, which would be like someone showing up at a pro golf tournament with baseball bats and catcher's mits-they are just THAT different! Still, it's hugely popular with little kids, little boys especially, probably the only Pixar franchise that appeals almost exclusively to little kids instead of teens and adults, and it sells HUGE amounts of merchandise, and it's John Lasseter's personal "baby". I find this so frustrating that we get this, probably that 2017 sequel, instead of a real sequel to MI or "The Incredibles". That really just adds fuel to that fire that Pixar is turning into another Eisner-era Disney, just looking for a cash cow, cranking out lousy sequels for the sake of milking a franchise for the money only, story and character development be damned. Sad, sad, sad.

Seems like George Lucas and Ridley Scott felt lonely in the "You Either Die A Hero Or Live Long Enough To See Yourself Become The Villain Club", so they invited John Lasseter over to join them.

Just did a bit of research and found THIS: www.slashfilm.com/is-pixar-working-on-cars-3/ . This was posted on October 17, so it's the most recent post on this topic. As of yet, neither Pixar nor Disney, nor any of their employees, have confirmed that a third "Cars" film is being made at all. The ONLY source has been this Wallis guy, who is NOT an employee of Pixar but a historical consultant on the first movie, that and a post made on the Rotoscopers site...this past April FIRST. Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't, but given the amount of secrecy that Pixar shrouds their upcoming movies with, I'd find it hard to believe that they'd let this slip out. Just because they asked this author about Route 66 again doesn't necessarily mean that it is in reference to "Cars"; they could have another movie in the works that also involves that historical highway or is set in the backroads of America. Until I see something official from Pixar, I'm going to be a bit more skeptical now of this. pitbulllady
