Chapter 1
“Yoo hoo! Randy! Hey Randy!” Mike called waving his arms widely trying to get his ex roommates attention.
Randy sighed what could Mike possibly want? Couldn’t the guy see that he was busy hanging with his new buds?
Ignoring the green eyed shrimp he walked away hoping Mike would get the hint.
“RANDY!” Mike bellowed running right in front of him a big smile on his face oblivious to the social status that
prohibits nerds from hanging with the cool crowd
“Oh great.” Randy sighed thinking about disappearing but there was something about his old roommate glowing optimism
that made him want to see what he had to say.
“Randy,” Mike smiled so big and so wide that Randy let out a small smile in return.
Lizard boy wouldn’t admit it but he had missed hanging out with the giant eyeball who was always so happy if not just
a bit too studious for his liking. The RORS never made him feel at home and seem to get off and making Randy feel like a
fool but that was okay, he was finally popular.
“What is it Mike?”
“Randy, you have to come with me now!” Mike grabbed his arms, “It’s urgent and there’s no time to waste!”
Randy gave him a confused look and pulled away, “What? Mike….I….I can’t…Johnny’s waiting for me.” he looked down not wishing to
speak to Mike any further.
“Pfft, who cares? This is important you see…”
“NO! I…I’m sorry Mike, but…” Randy gulped staring him straight in his big green eye, “We..can’t…I’m not…I’m sorry but I’m cool and
you’re…..” he twiddled his thumbs trying not to come off as a big jerk but how do you tell someone that there a complete loser?
“I’m what?” Mikes smile had finally faded he didn’t like where this was going. Something was way off with his old pal.
Randy was once just a shy nerd that disappeared if someone let out a small sneeze. How could a sorority change someone so much?
Mike didn’t understand. Wasn’t he a good enough friend for him? Is this what Randy really wanted? Did all that studying get in the way of their friendship? Nah.. Mike decided that the ex friendship wasn’t his fault, Randy should have joined him when he had the chance then everything would have been great!
Randy gulped again trying to keep in his growing guilt and hell if he would cry! “You’re….not cool Mike,” he frowned rubbing his arm, “I mean…it’s not your fault…but….” he sighed.
“But what?” Mikes face twitched a scowl growing on his face as he clenched his fist. How dare Randy tell him that he wasn’t cool! First Sullivan then ROR and now him! Nerdy lizard boy that made cupcakes to fit in. What did he know? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! All his life he never belonged and when he makes a friend what happens he becomes a complete jerk.
“You’re….you’re…a giant eyeball Mike,” Randy said, flinching at his ex friends new fury. He had never seen Mike so peeved and was kind of worry if this was going to end in a brawl. Fighting was never one of his strong points and he hoped to end this civilly before someone got hurt. Mainly him.
“Is that the best you’ve got lizard freak?” Mike growled happy to see Randy flinch unhappily at the rude name, “At least I’ve got dignity that I wouldn’t stoop so low to not warn my best friend how going to his first party would end up in social humiliation of the century!” he snarled, panting heavily face full of hate. He looked ready to explode into a fiery ball of fury.
Randy’s knees shaked a bit and he felt a big lump in his throat at being called best friend. He never had a best friend before and didn’t really think about how much it would hurt to be so badly humiliated in public. The name lizard freak ticked him off greatly but he tried to ignore that and remain calm to prevent a big bloody fight and getting kicked out when he had worked so hard and finally made up it to the top of the social ladder. Why couldn’t Mike understand there were no hard feelings. It was just a prank and it’s better to move on and let go. “Mike,” he started calmly then disappeared hell he had anything more to say. He just wanted to leave before it got ugly.
“Wha??” Mike stared blinked, not expecting Randy to just ditch him in the middle of their heated argument. “Coward…Fine go! I don’t need you! I have Sullivan and were going to win the Scare Games and prove that you and the rest of ROR are nothing but a bunch of….”
“Bunch of what?” Johnny hissed as he lowered over the green eyed midget, a menacing look on his face as he cracked his knuckles.
