French and algebra are both awesome - j'aime les deux.

I'm not a languages person- Latin is as close as I'm willing to get to that section of subjects. I do actually really enjoy maths now, though- our teacher's an absolute nutter who calls us 'sludge-buckets with mahooosive mouths'. ;D

Well, we don't speak or even write Latin- we just translate from Latin into English.

To Mel: I feel for you, hon. And if you haven't already, take Beboots' advice, since it's all very, VERY good stuff (I couldn't have recommended anything better myself). So hang in there, 'kay? About languages and algebra: ...Y'know, it's weird, because I'm good at both subjects so long as I'm actually taking the classes (got A's in Spanish and Algebra in high school). But, BUT, as soon as I'm not studying them -- especially Spanish; there's something to be said about actively practicing a second language so you don't get rusty -- all that knowledge just seems to...evaporate. Poof. And then I feel dumber than a rock as soon as they come up again out of the blue. Bleh. *raps head futilely* ~Light Rises

You know, I'm taking Psycology. One of the things that was taught, and I agree with, is that you will more likely LOSE what you learn in the next few hours than in several days. That, I think, is true.

During my first semester of grade ten, I only had one course in French (Science) and since the teacher was an anglophone (who'd gone through the same French Immersion program we had), half the time during the explainations we'd dissolve into English anyway. I was also taking Spanish at the time, and when FLA in the second semester rolled around, I had trouble sometimes (I actually said éstudiant once - sorta a mix of "étudiant" (French) and "estudiante" (Spanish) - both meaning student).

Yeah, apparently Spanish and French are really similar- a friend of mine used to take both, and both of her teachers would nag her for accidentally using the other language during lesson.

I guess that has to do with Spanish and French both being Romance languages, which means they share many of the same Latin roots. Or something. Heh. ^^; ~Light Rises

Which is why it's great to learn Latin- once you've got that down pat, then it's easy to learn languages like French. ;D

School does kill time, but it doesn't mean that school is necessarily a bad thing. ;D
