Well, I just blew 6.99 on this thing, to see what it was about. Basically it's a short version of the story with a bit of interactive parts, which means tapping a circle will make some monster in the illustrations move. Most disappointing is that there is absolutely NO mention of Randall whatsoever! He is only shown in that clip where he's sitting next to Mike in the Scaring 101 class auditorium. There isn't even mention of him being Mike's roommate, let alone friend. There is a "play" phase of the app where you can choose to play as one of several characters, and not ONE of them is Randall! You can choose even Johnny, but no Randall! Needless to say, I'm pretty bummed about this thing.

I just hope that they'll update it in the future with some more Randy stuff.

Well, here's something I DID learn from the story app-the screams of ADULT humans works to power things in the Monster World as good as, if not better than, those of children. And another thing-enough Scream energy can actually activate/power up a door into the Monster World from INSIDE THE HUMAN WORLD. Now, I'm sure that is going to be in the movie, but since it's already in the story books and the app, the spoilers are already out there, but then THIS idea hit me: if it's possible to power up a closet door by Scream from inside the Human World it would also be possible to power one up, even easier, using Laugh energy. Further more, if Sulley could do this in order to escape the Human World when faced with an inactive door, why can't Randall later do the same to escape the Human World? All he'd need is a door with a comparable connection in the Monster World, active or not, and be able to get someone to generate enough Scream, provided that he knows about this phenomenon. And then, my mind took a free-fall nose-dive straight into the gutter, imagining how awkward it would be for Randall and some lucky human female if HER Screams(not from fear, mind you)activated HER closet door and opened it at a most inopportune moment! Yeah, I went there...

*rubs temple* I knew about this instance...and let me make a call back.
The "red light"....I won't go into details as it's an R&D secret in the scare industry but... Everybody remember Sullivan BREAKING that light in MI? The one him and Wazowski TOSSED Randall through? Well isn't that ironic? I won't say WHY (those who know will get it)...but it certainly IS interesting that Sullivan chose to do THAT action...
Anyway...I find this phenomenon...troubling. If it IS possible...then it's very difficult to do. *rubs temple* I suppose....transdimension portions of the door production leave a virtual "tether" between the monster world door and that of the human world door. It's a constant, only served when the doors are destroyed. Of course this ALSO brings into considering BOO's door...which was shredded. Albiet repaired...it's...I dunno....it's in question.
*folds arms* My theory is that this...LUCKY...phenomenon is triggered by an overload of the "intake" of scream. As in, whatever the process that "absorbs" scream from the world into the next. Remember, the door is active during a scare, but closed for the most part. Scream collection occurs differently. So, for such an "overload" you require a VAST amount of screams, not just one child. Of course, as I actually explored before...this CAN be dangerous.
