I was just reading a really old topic here where people confess to having a crush on Steve Buscemi(I haven't posted in it personally, it's old): mubi.com/topics/weird-crush-on-steve-buscemi-anyone
And some guy came in and wrote this:
"Hahahahaha, of course you ladies are going to say yes. He’s famous and loaded! That doesn’t meet the definition of a “weird” crush! Nothing weird about it at all. He plays losers in films, but he’s an alpha male in real life.
The real question is, would you have a crush on the real life analogues of the fictional characters Steve Buscemi plays? That is, guys who are weird looking, broke, unpopular, and losers in pretty much every sense of the word? Now that would qualify as a “weird” crush. "
Wow....seriously I guess it's like if you find him attractive people will think it's because he's famous and has money? Really? It's like people think that's the reason you must like someone if they aren't considered good looking by the majority of society. -_- Then people are just like "It must be the money." or something. Like people still can't believe that anyone would ever find that person physically attractive.
I find that rather insulting.
And personally I do find the characters he plays(in the films I have seen anyway) to be attractive....like I do find Mr. Pink and his character in Fargo, Carl, to be attractive. Although I guess I could also get bashed for that then because those characters aren't exactly nice people and considered rather 'bad'. I mean they shoot and kill people sometimes, etc. I do tend to know better to stay away from people like that in reality, although it doesn't mean they aren't still sometimes appealing in some way.
So like....can you ever win? -_- It's insulting both to Steve that that guy would say that but also insulting to the women who do actually think he's attractive.
I mean are we really all suppose to like guys who look like Brad Pitt? :/ And then if we like someone considered unattractive by most of society.....it must be because he's famous/has money? And honestly I like Steve's characters more than Steve himself because honestly, I don't know Steve and he's married and way older than me. He could be my father, that's how much older he is than me...not that there is anything really wrong with large age gaps in relationships if both people are 18+ but still better to stick with your own age group if possible(mainly because you can live out more of your life together and have more years together). I'd only consider someone way older than me if I thought that person was truly the right person....I'd prefer to stay within about 10 years of my age one way or the other.
Anyway, back on the topic about Steve, someone else on this forum told me she also finds Steve really hot and that people would make fun of her for it. Why do people do this? Isn't it rather refreshing to see someone liking people who aren't considered to be amazing looking by general society standards? I think it's nice that people have different tastes and that not everyone is into the same kind of apparently considered 'good looking' people.
Sorry, just wanted to rant.
