Not my favourite Disney movie, but overall it was pretty good. Gothel makes for an interesting protrayal of emotional abuse. It's been a while since Disney has done that one- she's a bit like Frollo from the Hunchback of Notre Dame only she didn't really yell as much as him. It was a bit more subtle (As in insults Rapunzel and then laughs and says 'Just kidding!')
I wasn't completely sold on the romance of Rapunzel and 'Flynn' I'm afraid but then it's a DISNEY MOVIE. It's pretty standard for people to fall in 'love' after three days and all. I think it's because he was the first man she'd ever really met overall though- but at least (apparently) they knew each other for years before getting married. Which is... surprising in a disney movie when you think about it!
Overall, I still prefer Megamind and The Kings Speech so far in my films of 2011 but overall, not a bad movie at all and enjoyable. And Gothel made the movie stand out from standard Disney fare. She's kind of someone like Waternoose even though she's not quite like him in that- she's impressive to be certain and her power more comes from manipulating emotions, or more or less the emotions of one girl in particular by pretending to be a loving mother.
Pascal the cameleon Rapunzel had as an intelligent pet was also pretty cute and amusing in a sense that he both intimidated Flynn and the horse to stop fighting just by looking at them. XD.
