Any script writer worth his salt should be able to get Randall into a sequel. First, he is not shown being actually killed. All he has to do is escape out of that trailer and into the swamp. Then he should be able to get back to the Monster World. After all, Mike and Sully got back from the Himalayas. I figure the main thing keeping banished monsters from returning is notoriety. There are only a few monsters mentioned as being banished or being good candidates for real world monsters, and each monster looks like it belongs to its own species. So coming back would be pointless...they would be recognized and just rebanished or worse. But Randall can turn invisible, cling to walls, turn tight corners and go anywhere he can get his head. He should easily be able to stay hidden and plot revenge.

Well, as far as I know (which isn't alot), I don't know if there is going to be a sequel of not.
I kind of wish at times, if they did make one, they wouldn't add him because I think they'd make him more into a villian rather than neutral (which I think he was/is). Usually if a character from the first one comes back for revenge or just comes back, something happens and they're actually trying to be villianous. I would be scared they'd make Randall evil.

Most people don't realize it, but the ONLY reason that Mike and Sulley were able to return from the Human World was because they had access to an "active" closet door-one which was connected to a door station in the M.I. factory. They got back from the Himalayas because Sulley(and presumably Mike as well)went down to the village after being told about it by the Abominable Snowman, and just followed the sounds of children screaming. It was just a matter of good timing to rush in through a door before the Scarer who'd come in to collect that child's screams could close it again. They were able to go back and forth between the Human and Monster Worlds in the Door Vault sequence because Boo's screams and laughter had activated ALL the doors in the factory simultaneously. Randall's situation is different. HE was not left in the Himalayas, where few people own guns and most children are terrified of monsters and evil spirits, but in LOUISIANA, where everyone over the age of three owns at least ONE firearm and most people learn to hunt and shoot before they can talk! It's also a part of the world where reptiles(or reptile-LIKE creatures, in Randall's case) are thought of as one of the five major food groups, along with crawfish, crab, hot-hot peppers and boudin. Most of the kids aren't even going to have active doors in the M.I. factory at all, since unlike the innocence of Tibetan children, Louisiana children aren't afraid of many things, since they probably eaten them already. And no, I am NOT bashing Louisiana-I love the place dearly and have many friends there, but their eating habits are a bit unique, and hunting and fishing are still means of day-to-day survival in many parts of Southern Lousiana. The chances of Randall just happening upon an active door in some kid's house at the moment a Comic walks through, without getting shot or mauled to death by a pack of Catahoula Leopard Dogs is going to be about the same as my chances of winning Powerball. You also have to consider that it's VERY unlikely that Randall would have survived the severe beating without sustaining some serious injuries, which could very well include neurological damage that could prevent him from being able to blend. I also have to totally agree with MelTSS and the others; most of us do not WANT to see Randall come back and seek revenge against Mike and Sulley, no matter how badly they might deserve it. I would rather never see Randall again and have to imagine what happened to him after he was thrown into the Human World, than to see him portrayed yet again as a nasty, evil, reptilian villain who's simply out to get even with Sulley and Mike, who will of course be portrayed as a couple of really Great Guys that everyone is supposed to admire and feel sympathy for. If Randall's lot in the sequel is not to be an improvement on what it was in the original, he's better off not being in it. You KNOW that IF he's to play the role of Bad Guy again, who is just out to hurt the heroes, he will eventually be defeated again, probably beaten again or actually killed for certain, or at the very least made to look like a complete fool. Do you REALLY want that to happen? pitbulllady

yeah....that and you haven't introduced yourself yet. Why not? I think we'd like you to at least tell us a bit about yourself first.
But yes....GREAT point Pitbulllady.

Yeah, I agree- it'd be great for there to be a sequel with Randall in it portrayed as someone who really resents their previous actions, and is allowed to be one of the 'good guys' (without a complete character change, mind you; he still has to have the qualities that make him the Randall we know and love) instead of being the bad guy once again.

Well, he WAS a bad guy in the movie. He was not the main villain (that turned out to be Watermoose), but he DID go along with H2Oalces' plot, and even worse tried to KILL Sully at least twice, by strangulation and by pushing him off from a great height. But I agree that a reformed Randall WOULD be a better character than just another nasty. One scenario might be Mike trying to propose to Celia at the same time Randall gets a crush on her and tries to do the same. Then he could be an adversary but not mean. Of course, Mike would win out, if only because he would be a funnier father in Monsters 3, when Celia has triplets.

pitbulllady: That would be quite a trick. The one thing that is drilled into monsters is that you CLOSE THE DOOR. They would have about one second between the kid screaming and the door closing to get to the house, into the room and through the closet. They should be in the monster Olympics!

She's so...naive, and since she fancies Mike, I don't see her returning any of Randall's sentiments, if he had any.

BTW, has ANY Disney villain ever died? And hasn't the movie Frankenstein monster "died" several times?

Of course. Scar got ripped to shreds in the Lion King and Meleficent was also killed. There were others as well such as Ursula from the Little Mermaid and the Skeleton King from The Black Cauldron.
