Last month, when I went to see Toy Story 3, there was a trailer of Rapunzel, or now titled "Tangled". In the trailer, there happens to be a cute little chameleon as Rapunzel's sidekick, friend, pet, etc. But who knows? I was just a trailer and I think it's set to release on November. I can't put the link to the trailer because I'm on my DSi, but you all can search "Tangled trailer" on Youtube to see it.
I just thought of this.

I saw the same trailer when I went to see TS3 a couple weeks ago and noted the adorable reptile. We have to remember that not only Disney is to blame for the hate towards our scaly friends. Snakes have been loathed since biblical times, noted in Genesis to cosponsored with Satan. Of course, in those days snakes were a large danger. Now they're not and Disney, while guilty in the past, seems to be leading the way to somewhat renew their image. I was very surprised in Princess and The Frog, how snakes and reptiles were protagonist and very lovable. Very unlike classic Disney, who always had snakes on the antagonistic side. Although, I'm sad to say, I'm not all that interested in Tangled :/

I agree with you on that. But there is a character who's a reptile who seems to be neutral. Not a villain, but not good either: Kaa the snake.

That was the Jungle Book right? Well I do recall though that in it's original material, Jungle Book THE book...Kaa was as much a teacher to mogwi than the uhh...bear and uhh...lynx was it?

No, panther. Anyway, I'm not completely reassured by Kaa, what with his desire to eat Mowgli, especially since Kipling did NOT write the story specifically for Disney.

I wondered about that. Not natural in a snake's nature, even a talking one, to want to eat a human.

Yeah, Kaa was very much a protagonist in the original. So it's all Disney, making him have a hunger for man cub. Snakes have not always been seen as the bad guys of history. Many ancient cultures and religions seen them as symbols of fertility and life.

Well one reptile that Disney made that wasn't evil was Juju, Mama Odie's pet snake from The Princess and the Frog.

That IS true. And is you consider dragons as reptiles, there was a short film in the 40's called "The Reluctant Dragon" and it has a dragon that's sweet and funny. In the Rescuers: Down Under, there was a little lizard named Franky or something like that... So if you look, there are a few reptiles from Disney that are on the good side.

There's also Elliott from Pete's Dragon by Disney.

There's also Bill the Lizard from Alice in Wonderland, even though in the Disney version he flew away never to be seen again.

Let's not forget Mushu. His supervising animator pointed out that a snake was part of the combination, including camel, eagle, elk, etc. ;D
