"Your a workaholic...you know that?" That's something Ran tells me nearly every week when I have a pencil and book in my hand trying to think of something to do while we were suppose to be viewing a film ^0^ Needless to say in some spare, but limited, free-time I managed to find something fast to do that makes a sorta contribution. And what came out of it was this. M.I. The Series You heard right folks, a series. Now this is of course VERY "low budget". At CoMONdy we strive for great parodying and sets. But this is a brief sketch job with lack of background and reasonable coloring. About the only special effect we'll see involves Randall but other than that, low budget. The purpose is mainly for the story bits and not much else. So what is it? Well...the series begins when James P. Sullivan (yeah folks, most of the view will be by him. BUT that doesn't mean every episode focuses on him) and Wazowski have finished their training and, after a few weeks, are starting their jobs at Monsters Inc. The series continues on for a year and a half or so till by some strange reason, Sullivan gets to the Top Scarer position. Then for one more year leading up to the events we are all aware of. So we'll see Sullivan's rise from Scarer to the top, Wazowski's gaining a "foe from paperwork", Randall's...well Randall, and not to mention how Fungus, Celia, and other have come into the factory. There is some research that goes into this (with some correction Randall makes here and there), so it's not without some merit. This MIGHT also go on to Pixar Planet by the way.... Anyway enough talk, let the story speak for itself.... For now, here's the first PAGE of the first EPISODE. Enjoy.

Heh. The recepetionist and the nail file. Kind of a classic there.
It's odd given the fact Mike got Sulley up in the movie, that he's so late here. Guess however over time when Sulley got higher on the leader board, he began to take things much more seriously in that respect. But yes I do see him sleeping with 'Little Mikey' at points, while quickly putting it on the mantle piece so any visitors wouldn't know.
Just curious: are you going to have them meeting Celia in this? Will she be shown much?
EDIT: Oh right you say so in the post that she will XD.
Funny that I kind of figure Celia and Randall under different circumstances might get on pretty well, same with him and Sulley really. Oh and Sulley and Celia with each other if Celia didn't continually call Mike by rather nauseating nicknames and that kind of social awkwardness which sometimes happens between significant others and the friend of said other. Yeah.
I somehow wonder if Celia shoots down Mike completely at first or if it comes easy to him hen asking her out or whatever too. I'm not sure I could see him get nervous in that respect but it is possible (as long as he denies it probably).

FINALLY...somebody posted. *prods temple* I expected such cobwebs at the Planet though...anyway...
*chuckles* Wazowski ain't overly serious with his job at first. There IS, however, a reason for this and it actually involves Randall. I think we learn why pretty quickly in this first episode. And yes haha...Mike has had that thing for a LONG time.
Actually who Celia meets will be a little surprising. And she will come in...hmm...after a few episodes. And glad somebody noticed that it's strange she's not there at the start. I can say she currently isn't employeed at Monsters Inc., so it's not a shift thing.
Actually it gets quite surprising how it ends up that Celia and Randall aren't as talkative to each other given how they were before. Ahh yes the nicknames heh heh...gonna have to work on that.
Of course Wazowski considers himself a casanova when it comes to women but in general....when he say's Celia is "The one"...well heh heh...this was actually Randall's joke but....when he say's Celia is "The one" he literally means "The ONE...he's EVER really dated" ^0^

Randall. George. I see you. (Yay George!)
I know the basics of the game (the island) though I've never played it... so does Mike I take it not yet know hes not suited as a scarer here? Guess that could cause some drama when it eventually transpires if so. Mike getting jealous/unreasonable. Sulley trying to get his friend back as a friend etc etc.
Sulley looks... annoyed when recalling the training. Someone thinks they went a little overboard I guess.
Granted simulations only take you so far, so even if Mike got decent scores it wouldn't mean you get in automatically in any case. There would probably be other physicals and other things to account for. Like Mikes fear of dogs. That would also be bad to have since somekids probably have the dog in the room... possibly allowed by parents in order to humour the kid when he/she claims to have monsters or is scared (but perhaps hes going to get it here? Will it be mentioned?)
Ah the CDA, hope to see some of them too (but you know they interest me in any case, dang those intriguing slightly creepy very dark grey protaganists -shakes fist-).

Yes *chuckles* George has actually been around a little bit (albiet less than Randall), and has unfortunately been the bane of...well he'll say so about it in the next bit heh.
*blinks* *shakes head* Even since some bits in connections, you've hit near my wavelength 0_- Actually Mike's unsuitness to scareing is critical in what comes up later, particularly when it comes to Randall.
Nice that you noticed that. Scare Island is rather an intersting place. Randall Boggs, Roz, and Sheri Flint were all on the training staff...and suggestibly it's a rather exclusive training facility. Supposedly Monsters Inc. sends it's top entry candidates there.
*nods* Sullivan himself got really high scores on his simulation tests (almost as high as a particular somebody), but Mike...not so much. Evidently he only got in thanks to Sullivan. A testament to Wazowski riding his coattails.
*nods* The C.D.A. can come in a bit more. And it will be interesting for viewers to how Roz enters into the fray....

I'm guessing Mike at least met the minimum requirements on the scores perhaps, but yeah, can't see him doing as well as Sulley in the training.
I find the idea of George not being there as long kind of odd though (isn't he a bit older? I know Sulley is older too than Randall but I think most scarers would start younger.)
I'm also interested in seeing Waternoose.
All of this kind of reminds me I was ages ago thinking of doing a fanfic set when the advertisement in the movie was shot. Mostly Sulley centric but with a lot of Randall. And the person 'directing' is really impatient and doing what I guess would be the technical term- -face palming-. And he decides to get revenge on Mike in the editing room because he is a camera whore and Randall seems to be starting arguments. And Sulley is in his own way slowing the process. And Sulley and Randall awkwardness and Sulley having a weird conversation with Waternoose about Randall. Which unfortunatly might make things worse for Randall. (Because Sulley is just asking where he is and if Waternoose know wheres and that sets the CEOs paranoia meter up for a second before he realises Sulley doesn't know anything, but probably puts him in a bad mood anyway for later to be taken out on someone else. Probably).
Plus possibly a scene just after it where Waternoose is talking to Randall and kind of... twisting Sulleys words a lot- by telling the technical truth in some ways but also... sort of not. So Randall is irritated and hurt.
(Confusing description is confusing. But that's Waternoose for you I guess... XD... He's sort of like the CDA for me. Wouldn't like him as a person if I met him, but an interesting character? Yup.)
I've got other prompts to do though. (Would you believe I'm doing a Princess of the Frog/Little Mermaid crossover for someone, the different time lines make this more difficult obviously. )
Anyway, hope to see more of this and Waternoose. And Celia.
(Fungus?*) Soon.
*Wonder if fungus was Randalls assistant here or if that was changed during the scream extractor thing, we're already said elsewhere it is a little strange that two monsters who have tech knowledge to be on the same scare team, though there is the small possibility of coincidence in that respect and it's not a major point if you're not doing it.
Plus on another note- yeah for Sulleys awkwardness around the rude receptionist. I think when it comes to rudeness Sulley is just pretty dumbfounded about it probably. Probably he was raised to have good manners or something or taught that manners were very important. Not sure what to do about it so is just "Um, okay... I'm going now." LOL.
Yeah. I've done that in real life too.

I asked Randall that myself...he just laughed heh ^0^
George actually has been with the company for quite a bit, though perhaps not as many years as Randall (whom himself hasn't been there for like a decade or so) he's not there as a "trainee", he's on Scarefloor F. It's quite easy to get that, given the score board. It's a matter of skill and determination.
*nods* Waternoose will appear and later on in the series we see much more of the side he truely is, at least Randall does.
I recall that. Ahh true...at that time Randall would be getting close to finishing the machine...
*nods* Yes, Fungus will be appearing of course. And like Celia, he's arrival is quite unexpected heh heh.
*chuckles* Sullivan's first impressions sorta get him dumbfounded allot. I guess in general he expects a welcome or something and is just stunned it isn't there heh.

Oh-oh...that's off to a bad start, making Randall spill his coffee! Maybe THIS was the real source of the "bad blood" between them, not the Scare Board competition. That was probably the last cup in the coffee maker, too, just wasted on the floor. What a shame.

Thanks for the commenting ^_^ As for the "bad blood" Pitbulllady, it's actually surprising that it occurs much later on ^_-
