I was just wondering, but I remember a discussion that we had a long, long time ago on the old board about Randall's signature. If I remember correctly, someone mentioned about his and some other character's signatures written somewhere on the DVD box set, but I've checked and I can't seem to find it. Is this true or am I just getting senile in me old age? ;D

Yes, it does come with the DVD. The signatures aren't actually on the DVD (special features or whatever), but they're on a little piece of paper slipped into the DVD case. I can't find mine at the moment, but I believe it's a small booklet, with a sort of "group shot" of all the characters near the back of it, all with their signatures underneathe their pictures.
Does this help?

Yep, that's it-that little booklet insert that came with the DVD. Some of the monsters, like Sulley, don't even write their names in cursive, just print. Randall's signature has a definately backwards slant to it, like that of most lefties, and he makes the "R" and the "B" in his first and last names, respectively, really big and fancy, but all the rest of the letters really small. Some of the stuff I've read on handwriting analysis states that people who do that want to attract attention to themselves, but are very insecure and can't really handle attention when they get it, perhaps even are struggling with inner shyness and trying to compensate for it. Sounds like our boy to me!

*sobs* Nothing like that came with my DVD case, and I even made sure I got the special edition and everything. I know this is a lot to ask, but...well...I was wondering if anyone, if you had a spare moment or two, could scan it in so everyone can see it? I know it's only his signature, but seeing little things like that make all the difference...to me, at least. *is hopeful*

But the only querie I have is that that signature doesn't really look as though it was written by someone who's left-handed...

The "R" has a leftward lean to it, and none of the letters have the typical right-leaning slant that most signatures do. Lefties tend to do this if they've been pushed to make that right-leaning slant, which used to be the case in many schools. Teachers were instructed to try to "break" kids from writing with their left hand. What's interesting is that the letters really do fit with his personality. The "R" is very fancy, and there's that "tail" on the last "l" that underscores the name, suggesting someone who's trying to call attention to themselves, but the letters are, for the most part, very small, which is typical of someone who really is struggling with self-esteem issues and wanting to overcome them. A really good indicator of Randall's unpleasant past is that "break" between the "d" and the second syllable, though, and that stretch between the "a" and the first "l". The letters are all carefully scripted, though, meaning someone who is very meticulous and almost obsessive about the way they do things and really concerned about how others see them. People with really sloppy, hard-t0-read signatures could care less, and are more likely to be very confident in themselves. It's more like Randall takes time to actually think about how he makes each letter, something most people don't do when signing their names. One of the oddest things, though, which does not seem to fit what we see in the movie, is that each letter is very carefully made and COMPLETELY made, which suggests someone who really has quite a lot of patience, believe it or not! I know I am NOT a patient person, and many of my letters tend to have openings where they aren't supposed to be, or have letters crammed together. The fact that Randall's aren't like that may indicate that he really is a far more patient and tolerant individual that the movie shows him, but had simply reached the end of the rope, so to speak, and that it would have taken a LOT, and a long time, to reach that point. Yeah, I did take a handwriting analysis course in college, just for extra units(it was actually part of the Art curriculum at the time).
