If anyone's seen the episode of the Simpsons with Frank Grimes in, as I have recently, then maybe you might've noticed that the situations between Frank Grimes and Randall was actually REALLY similar- not completely identical, but similar.
Basically, Frank Grimes was a guy who had led a very tough life- his parents had died when he was a child, that sort of thing- but although he had struggled through every day, his high intelligence meant that he went to university and got a degree. So, like Randall, he had a tough past but a high IQ.
Mr Burns, the boss of a large power plant (the equivalent to MI, with Mr Burns being Waternoose) has seen, on the news, this piece on Frank Grimes and how he has struggled in life and likes what he sees- Grimes is a hard-working individual, perfect for a high position in his power plant. So, he hires him. Frank Grimes is a nice enough guy, though not as nice as he could be- he prefers to just get on with his work (like Randall.) He's quite bitter about his past, but wants to move on with his new job.
Next door to his new office is Homer Simpson, safety inspector. As everyone knows, Homer does not do his job properly and is a bit of slacker. (In a way, like Sulley, but worse.) Homer's very popular with the rest of the workers nonetheless (like Sulley) and is very laid-back about life. Then, something happens which, because of a breach of safety caused by him, he almost dies, but Grimes saves him to be denoted by Mr Burns because of it- Mr Burns seems to be using him (like Waternoose used Randall.) And when Grimes talked to his co-workers about Homer, they didn't really care and still liked Homer anyway.
Grimes begins to dislike Homer, since, although he's harmless enough, he's very annoying and keeps interrupting Grimes in his work. Grimes starts to loathe Homer, and Homer notices and, because he's never been disliked by a fellow employee, he panicks and wants Grimes to like him, so he invites him round for dinner, though Grimes doesn't know it's for dinner- Homer said that it was for 'something important'.
When Grimes comes to his house, he's amazed by how big it is (even though it's a normal sized house) and how perfect Homer's family (wife and three kids) are, even though they're really not. We then find out that Grimes also works at night for the money, so he's obviously struggling to pay the bills (like Randall was) and that he lives in a grotty apartment (like Randall probably did) with a bowling alley downstairs and a bowling alley upstairs. He's physically and mentally tired (the similarities go on) and incredibly jealous of what Homer has. But what makes him HATE Homer is that he takes it all for granted (like Mike and Sulley both did.)
He tries to embarrass Homer in front of everyone by tricking him into entering a kid's "Design Your Own Power Plant" competition, and when Homer wins, Grimes shouts out, "Hey eveyone, look- Homer just won a KID'S contest!" But, unfortunately, everyone thinks that Homer's great and rather than laughing, they applause. Therefore, Grimes goes mad and runs around the power plant saying things like "Oh, look, because I'm Homer Simpson I can hit the boss and a PROMOTION! And because I'm Homer Simpson, I can touch this high voltage box without gloves!!!" He gets killed.
It's really sad because he led a tough life and didn't have much to show for it, whilst Homer just cruised through and got everything he ever needed- and more. And what was even sadder was the fact that no-one else seemed to notice this, so Grimes' death was in vain. So, I'm hoping you can see the similarities between Frank and Randall too?
